Where oh where do the skill tapes come from? I have been a DE for a long time now and still don't have any tapes. My hunting friends have said they are on the lookout for them but nothing they hunt drops them. What spawns drop them?
Oh yea, and how rare are +5 and higher?

Any NPC can drop a skill tape, however the drop rate of skill tapes is pretty low. Skill tapes drop about 1 out of 100 item drops. DE specific tapes are even more rare, since only about 2 out of 100 tape drops will be useful to a DE. On average, you will get a +1 to +3 tape off of any random NPC, with +1s dropping about 75% of the time, +2s dropping about 20% of the time and +3s dropping about 5% of the time. As the level of the NPC increases, so does the chance of finding a higher + value.
To get a +5, or higher,DE tape you would need to kill an average of 2000 - 5000 Level 15 - 20+ NPCs.

Thanks (?) for the info Drashk. Kinda depressing though, I don't have THAT many hunting friends.

I know how you feel, Oteb. I have had to purchase my good tapes on the forum auctions. The only other ones I've found (or my guildies) have been like +1 or +2 DE tapes.

Yea but people ar charging outrageous amounts for them thinking that they work the same way as combat tapes. They don't realize that you need 10 and then 20 to do any good so I have seen +1 trying to be sold for upwards of 500k on the ahazi boards and have never seen anything above a +2 for sale. Ah well guess all my new Shipwright cash will buy those tapes if I can find them

Be happy you can even find them, even at the 500k prices. I have yet to be able to even find a +1 or +2that isn't Droid Complexity or Droid Customization. That's not to say they're not out there somewhere, I just haven't found them (not that I'd pay 500k for one either lol)
