I agree. With a ham of 40 - 47, blocking 20% with 1 level 6 module wouldn't really make much of a difference.

In MSE's they're definatley a waste of resources, but I've had quite a few people that want armor on their R3 detonation droids. The higher HAM means you'll get some use out of the armor if the target goes hostile. Maily for people that want to use them in larger fights and don't want to have to worry about a random AOE attack taking the droid down.

Just wondering if anyone adds these at all. I see the benefits of adding it from a BH/Smuggler view, and the downside as it requires another 150resources roughly.

Armor modules are only semi-useful in the combat droids, due to the higher HAM values.
Placing an Armor module in a MSE won't really have much effect with the droid only having 40ish HAM.
I view the use of an Armor module in a Detonation droid as a supreme waste of resources, but thats just my opinion.

I only add armor on request to my Expolding MSEs and R3s, and its only been requested once.. and probably didnt make a difference then

since droid armor caps at 20%, and most PvPweapons areat least AP1, then droids will take at least 5% more damage from most attacks, you'd be better to remind yourself that this 20% makes AP damage take effect, and will 9/10 times REDUCE the number of hits your droid can take (over 30% increase for med ap weapons, and over 50% increase in damage from T21's...)

Is droid armor actually armor, as in AR1 or is it just a 20% resist added? I've been wondering this for a while now and have never seen it. I just wanted to know if it was -50% the -20% or just a strait -20%.

its just 20%. It used to be AR2 before all the combat droid stuff but its been reduced to 20% AR0.
