In addition, you MUST have at LEAST Novice Scout to be able to use the Harvest function in the droid. If you are not seeing the Harvest options in the radial menu, this may be why.

First you need to prep the droid by specifying what materials to harvest meat/hide/bone. Target the droid and bring up its radial. There should be a harvest selection. Then, most people train the droid to harvest by programming it with a voice command and creating a macro which is placed in the toolbar. After that has been done, target the corpse and click the macro you placed in your toolbar. Sounds like you are trying to program the "target" command which is why you see the "?".

btw: the ? means the droid is waiting for you to tell him which voice command will tell him to harvest. the harvest option in the program radial menu is for programming the harvest command. say something like "harvest" when you see the ?. you should then see an ! (which tells you that the training was successful). then when you want him to harvest, target a corps and just say "harvest" (or whatever command word you trained).

thanks, I got it working.

I have hunting +45 skill, the droid is a +95, more than double my skill, but it does not gather much more resource than I am able to collect myself. I am not sure if it is even worth the time to pull the droid out when I could have collected what I wanted and move on in the 15 seconds it takes to pull the droid out.

if your doing missions, and really zooming from place to place, it probably isn't that effective no... on the other hand if your specifically looking for a certain resource, you'd probably be best served by walking around on whatever planet, with your droid out all the time, then just killing whatever you come across that gives that resource.

And there's a big convenience of having it harvest a creature while you're fighting other creatures. Or if you're at range.

Just running around doing missions doesn't always make it useful, but when some type of meat/hide/bone is selling for 100-200cr/unit, the extra 10-20 or so hide from each creature has a nice amount ofcredits attached to that extra 15seconds of time required to pull it out.
