Couple of comments questions for the Droid Engineers and Developers here.

There was a point in time when droids could store waypoint information. People began using it to store missions and it was removed. So if I'm correct the only point of data storage in a droid is for schematics?

Why was it such a big deal for a droid to have multiple missions/waypoints stored?

This was a huge function of droids in the movies. They would store hyperspace navigation data for small spacecraft like X-wings, so they could navigate between star systems. Or download maps of important areas (i.e. the Death Star) for use by their owners.

I'd love to own a droid, as it would give a feeling of immersion. But since I'm not an artisan, or a medic only item storage and armor modules are useful. I'm not looking for a combat model (of which there is one selection, sad. What's the point?

Droids are supposed to be able to assist in every single function of everyday life. I understand that SWG strives for some class dependancy but you have to do something for this suffering class. People are not going to stop going to see smugglers because their R2 unit can slice the occasional terminal.

As a non Droid Engineer, I'm asking for something to be done if that's what it will take. Give these guys a reason to stay Droid Engineers, all the ones on my server are retiring to pursue other interest because of the lack of attention given to this class.

Thanks for your support! As you pointed out, droids have very limited usefulness right now:

item storage: small, backpacks much better
data storage: almost completely pointless
medical: useful for medics
crafting stations: handy for crafting classes, mostly medics use them to craft stims
droid repair: important to repair droids that takes wounds, which is usually just the probot.

That's all they do.

I agree with you guys here. The DE profession needs a BIG TIME boost before it withers away.

However, I do just want to point out a fact about the item storage capabilities. It's not much, but even with backpacks, the total number of items you can carry is 60. As a matter of fact, the backpack takes up one of those spots, so you're better off not having one except for organization. Storage droids, however, can offer up to 50 additional storage slotswith5 storage droids in your data pad with10 slots each.

We're badly broken, but that is just one of many useful purposes that droids can still serve.

I have to admit, the 10 item storage per droid, does actually help. With 5 droids, I have 50 extra item storage. 1 droid holds HQ Steel/Copper, 1 holds HQ Alum/Iron, 1 holds HQ gas/chem/radioactives, 1 holds 10 types of droid parts in crates, 1 holds 7 weapon parts in crates and 3 other droid parts in crates.

All 5 have 50%+ crafting stations, letting me pull them out and craft a droid or weapon on the spot for a customer if I happen to be out of my shop. One of the only good things about droids right now.

But I agree, they need to let other things be stored in data pads, pets waypoints and all. The best way to avoid abuse is set the data size of certain items high. Lets say100 for a mission,100 for a non aggresive pet, 175 for an aggresive pet, and 175 for a droid. This data size should only apply to droid data of course and not our own personal data pad.

With max data storage of 150 per droid, this would still allow CHs to throw the data for 1 small pet in to a droid, and people could store 1 mission in a droid. But no large pets or droids would fit in another droid.

Easiest way to solve the problem, but SOE, has to take 3 months to think about it.
