Thread: Strange medical droid bug. Anyone else seen it?

A customer who had purchased an R2 unit from me with a medical module sent me an email yesterday saying that whenever he tries to heal outside a medical center or camp, he got the "You must be in a medical facility or camp..." yada, yada message. After exchanging a few emails with him suggesting that he ensure the unit does not need recharging, has not taken damage putting it in need of repair/vitality restoration, or anything else I could think of, I arranged to meet him so I could take a look at it.

He gave the droid to me from his data pad and I checked out its schematic. Looked normal. I called it out and examined it again. Still looked normal. It showed a medical rating of 110 as expected. I gave it back to him and we duelled so he could beat me up enough to create some wounds to heal. It worked. We went outside of town and repeated the test with the same positive result. Problem solved...I guess.

Has anyone else run into this bug? Anyone have any insight on it?

Was he trying to heal in the cantina? That's the only place they don't work, and seems to be the one place most people want to use it. Go figure.

Wouldn't surprise me if he didn't even have it called when attempting to use it. I've had this problem SO many times...

Customer: "My droid isn't working as a medical station! You've ****in conned me..."

Me: "Did you have the droid called and fully powered up?"

Customer: "Called? I thought it just works from the datapad"

As a Droid Engineer, you need to make one simple assumption before you deal with ANY customer .. even if it is someone you are familiar with:

TheCustomer is alwaysdumb

Hey bro, had the same problem 4 days ago. He tried to heal outside the city and it would not work, everything sound like it should. So I started to schedule a meet up with him and decided to ask my PA members if theirs was working right incase there was some kind of silent nerf. Theirs worked just fine, I told him that it should work anywhere except cantina and began to get set to meet up, he decided to try it again and it worked 100%. We have no clue what happened, just basically the first day it would not work at all, he tried second day and it wouldn't work. Third day we are going to meet up and he tries and it starts working, has had no problems since.

Is it possible that the droids have just been 'tamed'? I know that often personality chips don't work until the droid has been stored and called at least once. Perhaps this is similar?

Here are three reasons it might not have worked.

1. Tried to use in a cantina, they dont work in cantinas.

2. Tried to use in a Clone Center, they dont work in clone centers.

3. Low power (more than likely the culprit). All modules except storage require the droid to have power. Medical module will stop working and give that message about have to be near hospital/campsight if droid is out of power. Just have customer have a Droid Battery in his inventory, click on recharge on pet, and hes back in the healing business

believe me, I walked my customer thru all that stuff, I give customers of mine a crate of batteries and he even tried recharging. He tried in many different locations, which we're all mainly outside of the city as he was trying to get it to work in his group. He tried on different days. Definitely tried storing. And then just all of a sudden it began to work. No clue why, but I bet it has something to do with a server/game issue. Reason why I say this is because I have seen this same problem with public crafting stations, where it is like your character does not realize he is next to one and if you run away and come back then you will get the advanced schematics to show. It's crazy but I would bet these two problems are connected, and I cannot begin to tell you how much stuff we went thru trying to figure out what is up. Of course that's why I have so many dedicated customers because I get down on that personal level for anything a previous or future customer needs help with. I believe we spent about an hour across 3 days trying to get it to work, almost 40 minutes the first day. Then it magically began to work the 3rd day and he has told me it has worked great ever since.

I'm sure this was not the problem, because it worked fine for him for a day or two after I sold it to him. He had also tried recharging several times in succession. I don't know it he was in a cantina when he had problems though. I'll have to ask him.

Thanks for all the insight, folks.
