Thread: An Overlooked Droid Issue!!

I'm surprised this has been overlooked, but we need to be able to re-deed droids. As it stands now, they can't effectively be re-sold. I tried to execute a trade-in, with a customer, recently, but was not able to succeed for two reasons:

1) I had no room in my datapad for the droid he wanted to give me.

2) I couldn't sell the droid on the vendor, after I had it.

This effectively makes trade-ins impossible, since I find it very difficult to sell droids in person.

ironically enough most DE's arent concerned with this at the moment because it means people have to come back to us for more droids, in the long run it will proboably hurt the market but in the mean time its only fair as crafting droids have no depriciation so hence no return business.

The issue is not beingoverlooked. This wishlist item from the centralized issue thread insures that DEs are already aware of the issue.

S.Allow droids to be re-deeded forease of transfer. Since we can only have 5 droids in the datapad, it makes it really tough forDE's to take old droids astrade-ins for upgrades (like a car). We either have to immediately re-sell the droid or delete it. Would make more sense to re-deed the droid so that itcould be sold to another customer as a 'used droid'.

It would be great if instead of deleting from the data pad it would turn it back into the deed, then you would have to delete the deed if you really wanted to delete it.

Re-deeding is a nasty idea.

If someone buys a house, that architect will effectively not see that person again... even if they moved to a new planet.. because of re-deed.

People that decide they want a new house, or don't want one at all, re-deed their house and sell it themselves ... doing the architect out of busiess.

This would happen with droids.

Someone would buy an R5 and have a play with it for a week, then re-deed it and sell it to someone else... by selling it on, they are doing US .. the DE's out of business.

As it stands, with the "transfer" command the only benefit to re-deeding is that it gets stored in the iventory rather than the datapad

Perhaps a system where ONLY DE's can re-deed would be in order. I like the idea of taking droids from my datapad and dropping them on my vendor to sell once I dont need them anymore.

You're right Goranthoth. It's been a while since I read that list.

Sorry.

The issue of droid decay should be a separate issue from redeeding. People need to be able to resell droids. It gives the leary a reason to buy one, knowing he can trade it back in, or resell it, if he's not happy with it. It would have allowed me to take the droid back from the guy and resell it, without having to use the resources, and spend the 10 - 15 minutes to remake it.

Droid decay can be implemented in several ways. Ideally, (I would think), droids should lose HAM over time. Perhaps make it so that black bars can't be completely recovered -- I don't know. However, note, that games like this will always have a high turnover. Older players will leave, and new ones are constantly being born. There will always be a need for droids, once there IS a need for droids.

I agree fully with just letting DE's re-deed droids. We also need to be able to see what modules are in the droids. If someone try's to do a trade-in on an R5 and thay are saying it has a crafting station and a med-module, I have to take his word on the crafting station.

These are good ideas. Redeeding will hurt our business more than it will help I think if anyone can redeed.

But perhaps put re-deed only to DE's or put a cap on how many time you can redeed. This would also help architects if they put in this method. People would only be able to move their houses x amount of times.
