No just 5 max.

Theres acouple of reasons for this. Primarily to limit item storage in your datapad 5 x 10 slot droids =50 items or another backpack as it where. Well maybe not primarily for that reason, but you get the picture, 5 droids for everyone.

i heard that you can have 100 droids in your data pad but would have no wp or anything like that is this true ?

Besides having 10-item storage on each of the droids, you can also have 150-item Data Storage, but no waypoints. They ended that last fall after people were using their Data-storing droids to store additional missions, so they wouldn't have to run back and forth to town so often for new missions.

I never really understood why they did that, even after the advent of mounts and bikes, because it saved a lot of time (a LOT of time before mounts and bikes).

Maybe they just wanted us to enjoy the scenery more.

But that's just my opinion, and Hey! I could be wrong!
