Greetings DE's, I was hoping you could help me out.

I am looking for a good battle-buddy when I feel like solo'ing. So, I picked up a new probot from one of our local Bloodfin DE's.

It has 3k(ish) HAM, 40%armor, Attack speed of .075 but it only does 1 (yes 1) point of damage.

I like the fact that it actually has some defensive %, but only 1 damage? Is this due to the way the droid was configured?

Is it possible to get a decent battle droid that has a good mix of protections and can actually do some damage?

If any Bloodfin DE's would like to work w/me on this I would really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Yes it is possible. It sounds as ifthe DE that sold you your probot did not add any Combat modules. It also seems as if the DE pulled it from a crate of Pre-Publish 7 Probots (we never had Combat Modules before pub7) that is the reason your droid has so much HAM. Look at the droid in your datapad it should have a list of all the modules installed on it.

One other note your droid does not have 40% resists it only has 20% resists it is a bug on the display (and is not a high priority).

Someone here figured out what the module rating of the combat modules mean check the stickies at the top to find out what you can get.

Could be a prepub droid, or, it may be a Tanker. Check your droid and see if he has a heal power statistic. What you may have is an Adv Probot with 5 auto repairs in him. To use that, you toggle on his auto heal from the radial menu and send him forth into glorious combat for the Klingon empire!!!!....., err, wait, wrong sci-fi, sorry

Anyways, once in combat your sturdy buddy will do minimal damage (saving all the phat xp for yourself) and heal himself over and over to last longer.

If your looking for a decent straight up tank with a weee bit of extra punch, ask your local friendly DE for a AdvLE Repair Bot with one combat module, 2 auto repairs and a lvl 6 armor module (you want the level 6 to max out his resists to 20%) Make sure he's got some good chems on him, so you can get as close as possible to the 6k HAM these things can have. Adv Probots max at 3200, while Adv LE's can max at 6000. If your feeling fun, ask for a personality chip for a few extra credits.

Side note, your droid may inspect at 40% resists, but true max is 20%, the 40% is a display bug. Best thing you can do when you buy a new droid is ready him, then inspect, should see the true resists the first time around to know if you got a fair deal.

Thanks guys.

The probot I have does have the auto-heal option which is a nice feature. =)

Yes you got what's been dubbed a Tankbot. Most likely it's filled with (assuming it's an advanced version?) 5 auto-repair modules. Probots and D270s have an inherent attack of 1, so they still have the attack command even with no installed combat modules.

Off the top of my head, I believe a probot with 5 good combat modules will do somewhere 150-170ish. With a high rate of fire, that can come in handy It's really up to you if you get more use out of the droid repairing itself (and other friendly droids within 30m) while holding agro for you, or if you get more out of a higher damage dealer. It's times like this that I'm glad you can have 5 droids in your datapad (although I wish it was more than 5 )

Probot with all auto-repair is a battery eating tank.
It take damage for you, but doesn't take the xp.

Combat probot with 5 combat module are very good.
The 40% resist is a bug, it's 20% but still,
tested my probot against a guy TKM and fencer but not master, without buff, with a stunt baton, the (almost maxed) probot does win.
With another baton that does more damage but kinetic, the fencer win.

In PvE, the probot is great.
With 5 good combat module, damage are about 170-180 and chance to hit about 40%, and speed about 0.75 second.

Maxed combat rating is supposed to be 500 on probot, even if one guy on farstar sell some with a rating of 503.

DZ70 has about the same HAM (a little less), but does less damage.

Mix of HAM and damge you have 2 options :
Combat adv R3, lower damage than probot but higher HAM or a probot with 1 or 2 repair module.
I think combat stat formula for droid is somewhere in the sticky.

The droid deed you bought wouldn't have beentitled "Bullet Catcher" was it?

Incidentally, the idea behind a droid that does 1 damage is that it won't leech exp off of your kill, unlike a droid which does more damage.

No - it wasn't titled 'Bullet Catcher' but now that you all have explained the intent of the droid it does make sense.

I am liking it more and more actually as I use it. Sure does love to eat, but a crate of two of batteries and we will stay in business.

Is there a model that has more HAM and can still be used as this type of 'tank'? Is there a better tank model?

Thanks again - you all have a responsive community here. =)

You can fit a R3 with 5 Auto-Repair modules and it will have the same regeneration rate as your Probot. But in order to get the R3 to attack anything requires a combat module installed as the 6th R3 module. Even with the lowest level (crap)combat module, it will still do considerable damage to its target and rob you of your xp. However, it does boast around 1300 more HAM.

As I have said before elsewhere, the R3 with 5 autoheals is by far the best tanking droid. If you want xp more than anything, ask a custom droid maker to make the one combat module low.. its unlikely you will find these on a vendor sale.

Remenber, you need droid stims for when the going gets tough, but that R3 wil surprise you

Good Luck!!

Really?? I just ran a factory lot of combat modules with a 102 rating.. When I was making my last batch of "Spinnin Top of Doom" probots the rating is 510.

Yup, my "Enforcer" Probot ADV's have a combat rating of 535. I think he got confused with R3 ADV having 6 sockets and a max rating of 600. The same doesn't apply to the Probot ADV.
