I have been running into a problem with a certain feature on playback modules. I know it has been mentioned in the relevant thread for the module, but I wanted to address the problem specifically, and its possible solution.
In a droid with a Playback module, bandflourishes cost the droid some Action. This is fine in the case of most R units, but for entertaining Protocols and other chassis (I even sold a Playback Power Droid- long story), it presents a serious problem.
I see the problem as twofold-
Either the Action cost is intentional or it is not.
If unintentional, thenI'd like to see it bugfixed.
If it works as intended, then it begs another issue that I want to bring up: consistent HAM among all droid models. I've found it silly that just because certain droids are not combat capable, they get less HAM. If these utility droids are now expected to pay Action in order to function in certain utility modes, then they need to be given a reasonable amount of Action to do so. I would like to see consistent HAM figures for all droids, starting at 50 for an MSE and ranging up to say 6500 for a BLL.
Yes I understand that for most DE the Playback is not a big seller, it isn't for me either. However, it is one module that illustrates a fundamental flaw in our droids. If HAM is meant as an illustration of structure and integrity, then we should have consistent scores across all droids. If HAM is simply a function of combat, and its sole purpose is a damage sink, then things are fine as they are and nothing should make sense anywhere ever. Creature mobs, lairs, vehicles, and other structures all seem to have fairly consistent values, why can't droids?

Good post. Also, Doc's still like the surgical droid chassis, but it is basically useless in the field with 50 HAM. It needs to be bumped up to be more in line with the LE even though it won't be doing any fighting. One shot from almost anything, and the surgical goes down.

I agree. Either the non-combat chassis need to have HAM's consistent with the combat droid chassis of the same level or HAM costs of non-combat modules must be removed.

/agree, but I doubt this will change anytime soon. Might as well ask for the ability to equip droids with weapons. A LE repair droid with a laser rifle might come in handy ![]()
