Thread: Surgical ADV droid with storage

I just purchased a Adv Surgical droid that was listed on the vendor as having a 110, crafting and storage mod. Everything seems fine except the storage mod. it is not listed as being installed when i examine the droid and it is not usable. I contacted the DE vendor and he said "it must be a bug, contact SOE". SOE told me it's a known bug and to contact the vendor. I guess my question and complaint is.... how can some of you guys sell these add ons when you know it doesn't work? I've seen these types of droid selling from anywhere around 24k to 50k. What should they sell for?

Damn CSRers.
If they are going to start pulling this "known bug, **edit** at the vendor" BS, they need to drag there sorry asses into this forum and post all these "Known" bugs.

A lot of the "Master" DE's you've seen don't know the first thing about droids or the profession. They grinded their way up to master and figured that was good enough. Droids are different than any of the other crafting professions in galaxies in that they are very diverse and you have to know what you're doing to make them. What I would recommend doing is talking to the DE who's shop/vendor your at and asking them questions about the droid. If they can't/won't answer, should probably find a different shop.

Sorry you got burned ventana,
Jenden is absolutely right. Any MDE that is excited about the profession should read the issues thread and this bug is clearly stated in there. I am sorry for my profession that you got burned by one of the less reputable of us. I also agree with Knocky though that that was a pretty poor answer from SOE but the "known issues" ARE in fact posted here at the top of the forum. If you are on Ahazi, look me up and I will be glad to help you out ventana.

Thanks for all the answers guys, you are all great reps for your profession. I'm not really upset about it just annoyed that he/she listed it knowing it was broken. On the other hand, if I had done my homework I would have know that at the start. Soooooo..... we learn something new everyday.
I just wish one of you were on the Gorath server.

Its very possible the the MDE didnt know about the bug. Not that its a good excuse but he/she may not have put it in there on purpose.
If its true that only 20% of the player base uses the forums then only 20% of us are up to date on the bugs.
That DE should refund your money or give you a new droid. If he doesnt find another DE.

Us grinders shouldn't get bad press because of one bad egg. I myself have been grinding. But when I find money is low. I take break and make droids for sale. Maybe this person didn't know the droid had a bug. I myself don't know everything about our profession. I really think its bad that, in game, we aren't given more information as to what certain droids can do etc. For example the droids for Bounty Hunters to seek Jedi's. I can now make both but didn't have a clue what the difference between the 2 was. So I asked a nice, friendly MDE to explain. I won't sell anything unless I know, roughly, what its suppose to do. If you have a problem with my orders I try my best to sort them out. Every now and then I even make free mouse droids with modules attached and 'Transfer' them to AFK players. I've been making Mouse Medical droids with 100 rating for a while now. Best I know is that they can be used as mobile medical centers. No, one person has been able to give me a clear answer as how people can use medical droids with the medical module installed. I sell mouse droids with 2 effects installed on the bazaar for as little as 4k. I see people charging over the odds for these effects stuck in some bulky R2 when I believe the mouse droids are more discrete.
So as I said I'm on Gorath server, so if you need anything, let me know. If I can't help I can point you to some friendly MDEs.

I really don't think you got "burned" on purpose. I made several surgical "field " droids starting out that had med mods, stim dispensers and storage, only to find out that the storage doesn't work in the surgical chasis. I pulled mine off the vendor before anyone purchased them but my point is this: This is a very complex crafting profession. Most people grind up through and THEN learn to make droids. This is a common mistake with new DE's. I would assume that talking to the vendor would be an understanding solution on your part. I personally would prefer making surgical droids to the current R2's I make, but.... surgical droids can't store doc's buffs.

Have to say as a new Master DE, that I did something similar when I was starting out. Made a lovely Surgical Droid with storage in it. Whoops!
When the customer pointed out the error, I did check the boards (again!!) realised my error, gave them a full refund plus 5% for poor service. They returned the droid to me, and I donated it as a pure medical droid to a newbie in Mos Eisley.
I can understand the error, but I would contact the MDE, they should offer a refund. Try getting the R2 unit (basic model) I put Medical, Food/Chem Crafting, and Storage in mine, and they sell like hot cakes at 42K
