Thread: What items need high quality resources?

Heyas all, I read in another post that items that are placed in a chassis do not need to be made with high quality resources. ie. master artisan parts, man arms, droid brains, modules, clusters etc. Is this true? So the only parts that need to have nice resources and be highly experimented are the final droid combines? Seems like there is more to this.

The chassis themselves, and many components don't require high end resources, but many service modules do. Especially important is the OQ and Conductivity of metals, in particular for detonation and creature harvest modules. You also want very high OQ fiberplast or polymer for the final droid body.

So the mechanism quality on the droid motive, brains, man arm, droid sensor etc, do not affect he final outcome?

I wish that items decayed over time. My character is a pacifist from Alderaan, and she makes only droids that are not meant for combat (mostly entertainment droids), and I find that every single non-combatdroid that I produce needs no quality resources and nothing I make has any decay. That means that I really don't need to learn my craft at all. Most annoyingly, it means that my talent as a master droid engineer mean nothing. Nothing I spend time perfecting has any more value than something I spend no time on. I don't mind about the lack of repeat custom due to droiddecay. I get enough people buying low-end products and later upgrading, but the lack of realism is an issue for me. I really want to learn this craft, but I have no reason to do so.

It's a similar case with my musician crafting skills. I can experiment to my heart's content, but if I make an instrument with 100% quality, it's no longer-lasting than the same instrument crafted with 0% quality. That means that there is no real 'market' for qualityinstruments. One is as good as another. If only they would institute some decay ratebased on quality,I could have some level of professional pride in the things I make.

It's not just a matter of wanting to make more profit. In fact that doesn't enter into it for me. I would just like to enjoy a little pride in knowing that the items I produce have a value derivedfrom me putting extra time into them.

Since June 2004, running one of the game's first completely nonviolent characters. Testing the limits of non-combat MMORPG play and trying to have fun into the bargain (although the developers make it difficult).

Combat is no longer compulsory.
