I've poked around in several threads and its tough to find fact from opinion. Nothing is "confirmed" until it hits Test, which is supposedly early March.

2. Experimentation works? Or is it generally not well reflected in the final product?

Experimentation kind of works, but doesn't have much effect on the final outcome in droids. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but generally, experimentation does not currently matter.

3. Heh, do droids still change color everytime you pull em out? (I do love my R2 though, he always generates to match the outfit I'm wearing at the time)

Only the Astromech droids (R-series)currently do this.

4. Do you see this as the fix that will empower DE once and for all? ie. Chef changes were met with massive resistance but end consensous shows increased difficulty came hand to hand with benifits.

Most of us are taking a "wait and see" approach to this. The proposed changes are rather vague, so we'll have to see how things work out on Test and Live.

5. Not being a DE now any tips that the masters can toss my way would be greatly appreciated. I've already gone through the grinding post (thanks for the info ).

My advice would be to not grind all the way through, but take time at least at each new box to try out the new schematics and figure out how to build droids on the way up. This profession has quite a few quirks that can only be figured out by fiddling around with your droids. Also, read the FAQ and Issues Post, along with the other stickies, as the grinding post doesn't give any real info about the droids themselves.

Thats what they said. Seems odd and contradictory to their other statements. Time will tell.

Currently it does very little (the most is moving a probot up to 9 ham, and 10 max damage). After Patch 7 and 8 its supposed to be fixed.

What would the droid engineer be without technicolor droids? Im sure they'll be around forever. Though in the future, with any luck, they will at least come off the deed with their intended color and go through 40 pulls before going back to technicolor mode.

Not a chance. Unless they have a secret list of additions they arent talking about because they are unsure of making the deadline.

Start harvesting now. Find out your rares (i posted them elsewhere this week) and get them. Sock in Extrusive Ore, you cant build most droids wilthout it. Get Master Artisan or find one willing to work with you.You willneed thousands of their parts. Produce every component in factories so you dont have to spend 20 minutes with a customer.

as far as tips... yeah get lots of resources and the rare ones too. It sucks to hit master DE only to find you need neutronium steel and link-steel aluminum (among others) to make your newly acquired schematics. I would also start running components in your factories (get them if you dont have them) so you can craft droids more quickly, especially since experimentation is sketchy for most parts you can do this with the few experimentation points you have. Most importantly dont do like me and grind the last half of DE only to find yourself with no resources or subcomponents, because once you don that Master DE tag you will get orders and wont be able to fill them. I personally went up the blueprints tree first, not so much for the XP but so I could make chassis for friends and sale. Then I went up experimentation for the added colors you get with increased customization. If you want to grind it I would spend some prep time in the factories and make droid chassis. One, you can sell them and they make great decoration for your PA, city hall, or PA and secondly, any you dont sellare less chassis you have to make later. I think prep time is key in any crafting profession, people want stuff immediately and although it is often unrealistic for them to ask this, it is nice when you can do it.
