Thread: Deceit, Dis-information, Dis-trust, Lies, Liability, laughter

Deceit, Dis-information, Dis-trust, Lies, Liability, laughter ... these are the first things that come into my mind when I think "Star Wars Galaxies" and "Droid Engineer".

Droid Engineer was the one profession that nearly didn't make it into launch. It nearly worked. Nearly had some potential. Nearly ... seems to be the word that best fits such an amasingly ruined profession.

For over six months we've had the longest bug thread out of any game and are still yet to see a single bug from the list fixed. For over six months we have been the ONLY profession with over 2 known exploits and only one of those exploits has been officialy confirmed in the past4 weeks.

We were told way back when the correspondents were introduced that our questions would be answered, only to be given back a list of questions for US. We were told we were the most important thing in the game to be fixed after mounts, only to then be pushed back for player cities, then vehicles and now the GCW changes. We were told that our profession was going to be the first fixed yet have seen Creature Handler, Bio Engineer and (soon to be) Chef fixes that have massively changed all three professions BEFORE ours. We were told we should expect bugs to be fixed for our profession in the december patch but didn't get a mention on the bug list. We were told January would be "our" month only now to be told we have to wait for febuary just for the FIRST PHASE. We were told our current droids would be improved and their useability increased only to be told we are just getting combat modules.

Almost every player that has posted on the SWG forums has agreed that Droids make the most star-warsy non-space idiology for them, yet its the mot neglected and un-cared-for profession and entity in this game.

I feel sadaned, sickened and angered to see the state my profession is in and feel even more bewildered that the developer team have the gaul to continue lieing to us just to keep our money each month.

Between Thunderheart's dis-information and the promises initialy given towards droids for this game, it is borderline false advertising which last timeI checked is a breach of comercial laws throughout most developed countries including USA and Europe.

I hope the developer responcible for Droids is reading this, and other, posts on the Droid Engineer forum and seing how unsatisfied and saddened we are what he has done to easily the greatest aspect of Star Wars.

I can tell you now that I am one of the oldest and longest-running DE's in this game. I have been here since DE beta days and helped see this profession through some of our darkest hours but even I can only take so much. There is so much broken to Droid Engineer and so much that isn't working correctly yet all the Developers are seing is "combat droid". What about droid batteries only lasting 10 minutes? What about droid customisation only lasting 10 calls? What about DE having to rely so heavily on Master Artisan for nearly EVERY component? What about our exploits? What about our lack of experimentation?

Developers, you have a responcibility to your paying customers. Its about damned time you lived up to it.

/Agree 1000% Hoshi. Thanks for stating the truth so that we all may be reminded of our plight.

Developers!

Do not take threads like this lightly! We have serious, justified grievences.... for months we've waited patiently for substantive fixes and improvements to our sullen profession. Do not implement this ridiculous Droid Handler profession, fix the bugs that have been around for ages, and give droids and DE's more utility.

You are kicking a profession while it's on the ground.

Wow...

that about sums up the Droid Engineer profession...

I don't agree that its a conspiracy or anything of that nature... I just think they don't know HOW to do it. Its amazing how the brightest and most loyal fans of the SWG universe are most totured with their broken profession...

Amazingly enough, I think the developers feel that "well it can't be all THAT broken, or no one would be playing it" and that is really really sad.

no one is playing it. There are only 20 masters on Ahazi. Anyone want to guess how many TKA masters or Commandos there are out there on the server?

But be sure to add to that list of interesting descriptors: Languishing, Lonely, Left in a Lurch, about to go Lynching, and finally *low power*

Yea...it's amazing. We DEs are outnumbered by a ratio of roughly 1000:1 on ALL servers.

Man...I better get to work now if I want to get those free DH droids ready. Whew!

Hoshi,

You are one of MY DE heros from ** WAY ** back.

When the Devs' plan has you about to throw in the proverbial towel, it makes it very apparent to me where we truly stand.

TK421, I think you miss-spelled "anoyance" with "hero" lol

My DE char is on Starsider named "H'oshi" and I only find myself logging in now for PA/City events or to just activate my vendors on the map. A shame really, since I went to a LOT of trouble building up friends and contacts for H'oshi ... at one point I knew just about everyone that played in Bestine and used to just sit outside the cantina selling millions of R2 units. Those were the days... now I get the occasional email for a customised droid and sell 3 or 4 off my vendors a week. The market is as dead as the profession.

Sure, things will pick up when I can place combat modules in an R2 unit (what the fk is up with that?) but when ppl realise lvl10 droids are worse than lvl 10 pets because they only last 10 mins before you gotta waste a battery... whats the point?

I'm glad the BLL is finaly getting module sockets and I'm glad the standard protocol droid is finaly getting them too (even though I only ever build advanced) but I think, speaking from personal experience, the two biggestissues that cause me and my customers the most grief is customisation failing so quickly and *low power* .. EVERY DE has said this, yet it goes ignored

I have become a resource gatherer. I get asked for Thoranium Steel and Skevon Gas more than I do for any droids. I am really thinking about dropping MDE and going with a strictly Mining character now. At least I'll be in more demand and less of a joke...
