Thread: Why do my Advanced Probots with two Level 2 armor modules have the maximum armor rating?

This has got me very confused. Usually two level 4's gives the maximum. But with armor in the advanced probot, all it takes is two level 2's.

Can anyone explain this?

thanks

Don't forget there are two aspects to droid armor.

Resists (Max is 40%)

Armor rating (None, Light, Medium)

-----

Are you saying you got Medium armor, 40% resists out of 2 level 2 plates?

no. but what is the difference between the rating and the resists. forgive me, I'm a wookie, I've never owned a piece of armor before.

Armor gives a 50% drop in damage per level. Light armor drops 50%. Medium armor drops another 50% after that (or 75% total). After that the 40% resists kicks in and drops it another 40%. Medium armor with 40% resists drops damage overall by about 85% or just shy of heavy armor (which would be equal to 50% resists to everything or about 87% total). A probot with 800HAM and 2 level 4 modules or 1 level 6 module actually has about 1460 HAM. Your 2 level 2 module probot has light and 40% if I remember correctly which only has one 50% drop instead of 2.

Your calculations are off Gnome. Light armor on with 800 HAM equals 1200 HAM, Medium Armor with 800 Ham = 1800 HAM and Medium 40% armor would = 2520 HAM. Easiest way to aquire the totals is to multiply the 800 HAM by 1.5 for each level of armor and then multiply this result by 1.4 for the 40% resists.

As usual, Drashk, you're right on. Sorry, guess that's what I get for trying to do the math when I'm half asleep!
