Thread: A new spin on the idea of Droid Commander. Hear me out...
I had a bit of a brainstorm at work, and came up with a semi-plausible solution to the high-level droids situation.
People are somewhat(read: mostly)opposed to a new droid commander profession becauseof a couple things:
1) It's means spending precious skill points that could be put to other combat skills.
2) It takes away the pretext that droids can be used by anybody.
3) It's too much like theCreature Handler profession, thus competes greatly with it.
Well, here's a few things to consider. The devs obviously aren't gonna do certs because that means disrupting the balance that combat is just now closing in upon. Besides, certs don't mean extra xp/skill points spent to obtain this new power. I highly doubt the DE will get these bonuses and become a hybrid, because that means taking all 4 trees of DE and compression them into 2, making room for DC skill trees, plus promotes dabbling. A mini profession is unlikely because that pretty much ruins the profession layouts we have right now, and the Devs don't seem to like that idea.
Solutions?
Keep the idea of a DC profession. However, make it attainable from ANY master profession. (Basically, if you are the master of any profession, you qualify for DC).
- This not only satifies the Devs will a full profession with XP/skill point requirements, but any profession can potentially get it, including entertainers and politicians (those pesky polticians need bodyguard droids from all the slander they give =P).
- It spreds the DC skills apart enough to prevent elite-dabblers from simply taking advantage of a few trees of the profession, especially since it requires a master profession in the first place.
- It makes room for more posibilities. You could use this new profession for not only high-level droids, but attack VEHICLES. You could name the whole thing "Machine Commander", or something like that.
This seems like a very easy to accomplish thing. Easy for the devs to implement (in a manner of speaking, of course). Satisfies most of the players concerns, and most of all, leaves nobody out. It also paves the way for "certs" for high level vehicles, comabat bikes, vehicle weapons, ect, and puts them in a place that balances them for the devs automatically (since they require skill points to take advantage of).
And there you have it.
Ultimately i would question whether this Applies to CH +3 additional pets and +3 additional bots. And if it suggests that we have 3 pets already and would not get the use of this profession combined with our own, then i find it unbalanced. We would be the only class to have a penalty for having weapons certs (in this case weapons is used as anything doing damage). Please save the CH hating. If it does damage its a weapon. Saying CH already has 3 pets is like telling the Commado he already has a flamethrower. Spending 200 SP to not be able to use the profession its like...well its like being Squad Leader or DE.
i doubt that CH+DC will be stronger that CH+anycombatprofession.
2 weak professions wich will have a maximum dmg output of about 1000 resulting in about 50 dmg on players and are killed with one shot from any combatclass wont be overpowered in anyway.
have u ever tried to play CH without a combatclass, its weak and cant do real dmg.
if someone wants to play DC and CH he shouldnt be punished, as class combos arent meant to be restricted, otherwise the CH balance could have been done by nerfing the combination of CH with combat classes, and nerfing combatclasses+medicclasses and so on.
when than there should be a cap that allows u to call all droids and pets u have invested skillpoints in but not allow u to call additional faction pets. why should it be not allowed to call creatures and droids but be allowed to call creatures and at-st together and have skillpoints left for a combatclass.
For all you that say "NO DH!", How come CH and BE exist? Wouldn't it make sense to the game if DH + DE existed? =P
