Sorry in advance for the rant...I really wanted to be a DE from day 2,even after the months of useless products, and low sales to make MDE. Maybe its just me, but it seemed that our profession was being ignored by the Devs, whether it was because its hard to code, or because most players dont want to BE DEs, i'm not sure. I can take being ignored to a point, but not too long...I'm seriously considering moving on to another crafting profession. One with more money, prestige, and lets face it, functionality. The only major change that they're planning for us is to take away combat droids and give them to some nebulous Droid Handler / Master / Commander mini-profession. Look at the trail of "Information" that has been passed to us recently...it smells foul to me:
First, it was "January'supdate will be all about fixing DEs" (Cool! Finally its our turn!)
Then, it was "January's publish will be a 'Droid Invasion'!" (Are they fixing Droids themselves or DEs?)
Next news was that "A majority of DEs want a Droid Handler profession for combat droids" (Says who?)
And Then...: "DEs don't want a DH profession, so we'll make it a mini-profession" (whats a mini-profession?)
Still more: "Combat modules will be in Publish 6" (too little...)
More? : "Combat modules will be in Publish 7" (...and now its too late)
Currently on Test for next Publish:
--- Added module slots to Adv BLLs and both Protocols (OK, NOW they're worth something, even if they're worth the same as all other droids ever were worth: a module holder)
--- Fixed Droid Storage Compartment experimentation from MA to DE (Big whoop...doesnt add much to fun or "playability")
--- Droid Customization tool gives Droid XP instead of General crafting XP (Doesnt help much, how many people actually get a majority of their XP from this?)
--- Fixed Socket Stacking exploit (Fixes a bug that has been around and known since day 1 finally)
--- Fixed multi-crafting station bugs (wasnt this fixed before? is this a fix of a fix?)
--- Removed combat stats from non-combat droids (again, fixes a display-onlybug thats been around since day 1)
--- Item storage 2 modules finally named appropriately (as above, no big whoop, was a display-only bug)
--- Added transition from combat to idle probot (Huh? whats this? Is this the UGLY probot DrashK showed us?)
So, what can we do to get them to really listen to us? I'm outta answers, and since this is a game, and I bought it to have fun, I'm thinking of switching to another crafting profession to do so. I'll give it some time while I sell out my stock, but something good better happen to us soon...
/sarcasm on
Why are all you good, veteran DEs leaving? It's obviously getting better for us DEs really soon!
/sarcasm off

Nothing in a timeframe that would be bearable for me personally - I started when SWG came to the shelves in Europe and was looking forward to the fixes they promised and delayed till January because of the city and vehicle stuff. It has already been delayed so many times from what I read that I have no faith to see anything *I* would callreal improvements (for me combat droids are unimportant and fixes and functionality should have priority - but that would push the whole thing back for another couple of months) will happen soon enough for me personally.
You never know how long you play a MMOG (Jumpgate with 2.5 years including Beta was my longest stay so far, EVE and DAoC about half a year) and I don't want to spend my time waiting for the grand miracle.
All we can do is vote with our feet and heed the Stormtroopers: 'Move along, citizen.' I am Novice Chef now - should be OK for a while as it is revamped *now* and sounds interesting.

Yeah, it does, but I dont think I could stomach a profession that relys on animal by-products like meat and milk. Kinda puts you at the mercy of the scouts/ rangers/ combat folks for prices and supply. I've noticed that organics tend to be more expensive than minerals, generally.
