Thread: My Resignation Letter

To all whom it may concern,

I am resigning my post as a Droid Engineer, effective over the next several months. It has been a wild ride and an interesting endevour, but all things must come and go and I fear it's time for me to move on. I'll be passing over to the medic ranks in the next several weeks, slowly dismantling my DE ranking as I go.

The reasons:

As for what brought this about? I'm basically just tired of nothing. We work twice as hard, have a profession that is twice as hard to sell our product in, and yet make less than half what the other crafting professions make. To top it off, this recent endevour with the Developers has left a rather sour taste in my mouth, leaving me on the verge of canceling my account.

But there are various things I would like to see first, and I have several mates who have just started soI intend to help them out in their questing and level before I depart. As such, I'm toggling over to medic to give them a hand while they adventure. Will also leave me in a position where I am still able to do the one thing I'm good at: helping people.

The DEA / DEnet:

This is a critical one, and something I'm very sad on leaving. Doughbacca currently runs the DEnet on Ahazi, however the original agreement was several weeks. I am not one to go back on a responsibility, and as such am willing to take over the DEnet again and continue running it if/when he wishes to step down again. The mailing list only requires me to have knowledge of DE events and forward out mineral waypoints. Doesn't take the title to run it.

However, the decision on that matter would be in the hands of both Doughbacca and the community. If they feel it is time for a change, don't wish a Non-DE to maintain control over a DE only thing, or simply feel it is no longer needed then Doughbacca can begin dismantling it at the time he sees fit. I'll be posting this same info in-game on it.

As concerning the DEA, well that I'll no longer be organizing. Among the other reasons above, I no longer have the time to pull together a profession, and especially not the energy to hold together a riotous mob such as this one. However there are multiple people who are qualified and experienced enough to pull everyone together for meetings, should they desire. But before you all go volunteering, realise that it is a huge project that requires a lot of creativity and planning. You have to schedule through various timezones, be on early to direct newcomers, speak volumes in public, coordinate efforts and speakers, anddeal with all the frustrations and pent-up energy of the entire profession facing you while you are on stage. Just be sure you know what you're getting yourself in to

The Return:

Should anything major occur that makes this profession worth playing again, I'llhave beendropping my skills as slowly as possible, and I can always grind the entire thing up within a week. So if need be, returning is not only an option, it's an easy choice.

The Conclusion:

Goodbye all, and Good luck. I'll be keeping an eye on the forum boards and can always be reached in-game. It's a sad day indeed, walking away from the best group of gamers out there with not a l33t d00d as far as the eye can see. You're all kind-hearted, patient, intelligent players who have been given the short end of the manipulator arm for too long.

So until next time, keep crafting mateys!

*salute*

I can't say I am happy to see you go, but I can't say I blame you either... To be perfectly honest, I can't really say for certain that I won't follow you.

Taking a well-deserved vacation from his successful Droid Engineering business, Master Rho can be found puttering around the galaxy.

Sad to see a very entertaining voice of reason leave us. Good luck in your future endeavours.

Sigh, I'll be quitting DE soon too to pursue Holocrons for a while. Hopefully DE's will be fixed in a couple of months, and I'll be first in line to come back to this profession that has given mesuch good times.

For once, the mighty TK421 is officially speechless (though I knew of this in advance).

I hope my relative silence speaks volumes, Wood. You've been a far more important force in the DE community at large than you likely realize.

I'd like to thank you for committing the time and effort to launch the best (and, to my knowledge, the only) working profession "association" on ANY server, let alone ALL servers.

I may be able to step into the DEA/DENet head position....but I cannot replace you. No one can.

My hat is eternally off to you, chief.

Woody,

You have been a perfect example of all that this profession could be. Your humor, seemingly endless patience and willingness to help your fellow players has been an example to us all. We shall be both a lesser and a sadder community for your absence.

Happy trails, my friend.

I can say it any better than GnomAd did. You will be missed my friend.

With the debauchle we have seen the last few weeks I have seen in this profession I cant blame anyone for moving on right now.

Take care Woody.... Don't be a stranger though. It's fun to go out and blow crap up for a change, but don't forget your old downtrodden DE friends slogging through our half broken profession.
