And isnt that the most frustrating part? The fact that they DONT listen.

They got one chance left...

If anything, droids should be more powerful than CH pets, or the DM profession should cost less skillpoints.

This is because droids cannot be healed like creature pets, the DM is required to carry a backpack full of batteries at all times, and combat droids will come in one of one flavours (ok, maybe 3 types.. ).

Actually the only reason to come here is to talk to fellow de and share ideas about whats coming and whats not.

If Runesaber wants ideas he shouls read the thousands of posts that they already asked for many many times.

Its an insult that he would even ask YET AGAIN for ideas.

Its kinda like your boss developing a team to brainstorm for month and months, the team puts together a very well thought out plan and presents it in a very professional manner all the while the boss sits nodding and agreeing, after the presentation the boss stands up thanks you for your hard work and presents what they will be doing, which has absolutely nothing to do with the 3 months worth of work your team put into it.

The real question is how long do you think "The Boss" keeps that title.

Failure is the lack of imagination, and the strength and determinationto achieve.

C'mon guys! Let's get behind this!

  • I want to know what it's like to fully stock my vendor and then get a /tell 30 minutes later telling me it's empty!

  • I want to have CSR accuse me of duping because I've got the max amount of credits in my account!

  • I want us to be the first profession in this game to get nerfed because we're making too much money!

  • I want to get a /tell from a weaponsmith asking for a loan to pay his harvester payments!

GnomeAd this is the one post you've made that I am in 90% agreement with. Except the use of the C-word lol.

OK. I can appreciate you think it is an exact clone, after all im sure you think a TKA and a Rifleman are the same. I am sorry for being a bit facetious, but this carbon copy thing strikes a nerve.

DH's will have droids whose range attacks work (we hope). They will never tank (we hope). They will always be dependent on DE. CH's are not entirely dependent on BE as has been flogged to death. But if they stay independent must sink Skill Points in medic. For every DH there will be a Repair Droid sale. For every DH there will be lots of batteries sold. DH's will not do kinetic damage. I am too inexperienced at DE to know how many weapon types you can but in a combat droid at the same time. But I would expect to see Acid Modules, Heat Modules, Flame Modules, Stun Modules, Electricy Modules. And if you cant put two or three of these in a Droid at the same time i would expect to see the same bot with various modules in each DH's Datapad. The creative feedback at this point should be more geared to asking the Devs for bots that seem less CH like.

At this point and time, if specials do indeed work they are rare. These module types if allowed multiples gives the DH a distinct advantage as CH's only do kinetic. So you are more like a marksman/Elite Weapon class than a CH pulling out bots to fit a PvE setting. Rather than a carbon copy of of CH. You atleast have the distinct advantage of giving better armor ratings. While the CH by itself does not. We true CH's take what we can get, those less hardcore simply buy BE pets.

I want to be DH. Even if the droids will not stack with CH pets. Although I feel that pets should stack, because denying CH the ability leaves the game out of balance in some sort. What I mean to say is if any other combat class can use there best weapons and be DH but CH is not allowed then it will truly be an unjust system. For further information read John Rawls "Justice as Fairness".

GnomeAd, in closing i believe everyone in these forum the past few weeks have fought a good fight. They have pitched their best ideas and while some were better than others and some were just anti-anything-new. I have said in the past that i came to this forum after hearing the news to learn something about DE and found myself knee-deep in CH loathing and desperation for identity. I charge myself and others of the DE community and future DH community to help make this less of a clone to rifleman or CH but put something personal in it to make it unique.

Ya know...and it really kills me to say this ...you might be on to something here. Currently, pets are used mainly for tanks because they have higher HAM than players but cause less damage. Maybe the devs should take a look at making droids the opposite.

I'd like to see droids with higher damage output and less HAM. Currently, if you're a melee type, your use for pets is somewhat limited as you are basically a better tank than them in most cases. As a result, you tend to see CHs using mainly ranged weapons and having the pet tank. If droids were made the opposite with higher damage per second and less HAM, it would make a nice balance to CH instead of being just a clone of that profession with metal skinned "pets".

Gnome,
Thanks I've gotten so passionate over defending the class before it even starts that i think often i ripped through my arguments and never fully had a conclusion. But my point is although outwardly they are similiar their functions are truly juxtaposed like marksman and fighters.

Friends and Neighbors,

It looks like we have no choice but to be good little children and step to the tune of the devs on this matter. The time for all the if, buts and maybes is over. They are gonna do what they're gonna do and the only thing left for us is to decide if we want to stay in the game with the new system. Since it's quite apparent that we, as a group, are pretty much in the "pure crafter" category, and since we all like money, I think we should start looking at it from that perspective.

If we are going to be making combat droids, we should make sure that the market for them is as large as possible. The more DHs/DCs/DMs/whatever the better, right? If the class is too hard to get, it will lessen out market. I say we make it as easy to obtain as possible, while still maintaining balance. The problem with the proposal Drashk put forward is that it's gated by both AXP and Combat XP. Both of which are hard to get and would limit our market unnecessarily. Let's make a killing on this one. So without further ado, the plan:

  1. Make the DH/DM/DC class an elite profession. The prerequisites should be Engineering from the Artisan Line and Ranged Combat from the Marksman Line with the requirement for Novice DH being about 20000 General Crafting XP. Let's face it, as unrealistic as a DH profession is, it's closest to engineering under any light.

  2. Add 4 skill trees and a Master DH box. You earn DHXP via combat with your droid. Add in a few enhancements for different blocks and let a MDH have out 3 combat droids with a max CL of 70. Let's face it, if they are going to add a DH class, we want them to be at least as powerful as pets. Otherwise, we won't be able to give them away. (TK421 not withstanding)

If all this looks familiar to you, it should. Basically imagine the CH class with different prerequisites. There, I said the C word. You can all flame me now. Bottom line is that this is going to happen wether we want it or not. So far, we have either been standing our ground and risking getting steamrolled, or we have been making the new profession as unattractive as possible. I say neither. We want lots of DHs in the game. Heck, we even want dabblers. I want everyone on my server to be at least a novice DH. Why? Because players want pets. They can either buy creatures from a CH or BE, or they can buy them from me. I choose me. I got a spice addiction to feed!

Maybe... maybe... Runesabre may be just another head on the Hydra, but I'll give him a single chance. I'll also fight until this stupid plan untilvery last moment I'm able to. And even if all my fighting is to no avail, there is always the cancel button. If that comes to pass, it's a Win-Win situation, no?

Ranged Combat???

"Stinky! Go! Kill!"

I need Ranged Combat for that

The separate profession is limiting droid usage and sales as it is, let's not limit it any more by requiring prerequisites that maybe only 1/3 - 1/2 the game populous might have.

I would say only Engineering, or Engineering and ANY master base profession, or something more universal like that.

So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

I hope to God we have SOMEthing to look forward to.

It's true that CH and DH basically do the same with different 'pets', but if all it is is an exact copy, right down to the damage and resist, this should have taken a HECK of a lot less time to get into the game - just copy creatures exactly and slap a new face on them.

There HAS to be a reason that people will WANT to use combat droids.

Not just because their cool.

Most hardcore players will go with the highest power, they don't give a crap what it is ot what it looks like.
