Thread: Do Droid Complexity tapes cut down on fac time?
Complexity skill tapes were removed from the game many months ago. They were a great help in the crafting process and if maxed out, would allow you to craft almost all of our products without a crafting station near by. They were a very powerful item, which is why I think they were removed.

I understand that the complexity tapes will reduce the complexity of an item in crafting, but do they cut down the resultant complexity for factory time on a schematic?
If they do, they may be worth something as our fac times seem to be insane

In theory, yes, they reduce factory time.
However, some people argue that you'd need +10 droid complexity to see 1 point of complexity difference, and some argue that they don't work at all, and some argue that they do, too, work, we just don't know what they really do.
I recently got a VERY nice droid complexity tape (+20 maybe? I forget) and I'll post on this after I do a bit of testing. IF it's going to reduce item complexity, and thus factory time, what I've got should definately do it.
And, well, if not, it looks good in my crafting suit.
I can tell you for a fact that they are no longer working in any form that they once did. I had a total of +10 at about the time of Publish 5, when the tapes were working as designed. The +10 reduced the total complexity by 10 points and made it so that I could produce many more items without the use of a crafting station being present. The lowered complexity also lowered the factory time by quite a bit, since factory time is based on complexity, resources used, and sub-components.
I asked QA about the status of complexity around the time of Publish 6, which was when it was noticed that the skill modifier was no longer working for DE. I did some snooping around and found out that the Structure Complexity tapes were no longer working as well and the bonus listing, in the skill window, had changed. Put all of this together and we figure that the Complexity skill tapes were hit with a stealth nerf.
