Thread: Inventory Tracking

I am back in the game after taking a short break and I just reastablished my shop. Putting everything in its place reminded me of one of the reasons I burned out for a short bit... Keeping track of resources and parts. I have seen very little in the way of keeping things neat and organized so that you knew what you had to have and needed.

What has everyone else done?

I could always do this on paper I guess...lol

Personally, out of 6 vendors, I have two that I use as my resource managers (one on Corellia, and one on Naboo, both Research City, either in the same building as my vendor or close by).

Trying to consolidate so that I will work in just one city and not two different cities. Especially since I am mainly doing DE and not WS (corellian vendor has my WS materials, Naboo has my DE materials, but I keep on pulling resources from my WS stuff, like... steel...)

Having just one resource vendor would free up my other vendor for a "Johnny-on-the-Spot" for those crafting/merchant expos ... Stock that vendor with resources to make on-the-spot crafting and sales.

Another reason I use vendors, is because I can sort thru my resources a lot more easily and see how much of a quantatity I have left... And if I have 2+ stacks of the same name, then they are probably the same thus can be combined into one (had that happen before, thinking I have different resources only to find out I bought stuff I already had, or sampled/harvested).

Someone ought to make a program we could enter numbers in.... just enter the stock droids we make, enter what parts they need, enter what parts we have, and it notifies you if you need to do another run of droid sensor packages or whatnot.

I might do it, if I stop being lazy.

Until the Devs give up on trying to limit the number of items we can "own" in the game, its going to be hard. I also use a vendor to manage inventory, but with the Merchant chnages coming in the next couple months and the likelyhood that they will find a way to make it impractical to use vendor (item cap, price cap, etc...) in this way, I have begun to set up a mini-city for my stuff.

So far I have 16 houses dropped. 2 Larges (one for decorations only, 1 for my crafting center) and 14 medium/smalls. I still have over 600 lines of items on the last storage vendor. As the Merchant fix gets closer, I suspect I will have to drop another 10 or so to hold the rest of my resources. All my components haave a house now, so its just the resources left.

I freely admit that I am a packrat. I like to collect crap I will never ever use again, and which will probably never leave the backpack its sitting in. Maybe one day if they remove the insulting item cap on homes, I will set up a big museum. Until then, I will just keep setting up more and more homes. I dont understand where they get off trying to dictate to me the number of items I am supposed to have.

I have 3 unlocked containers:

1 for the modules crates
1 for the parts crates
1 for the rare/good/named resources.

Every other resources is in my backpack and the stock of parts/BH droid stay in the factory untill I need them.

When I'm out of a part, I make a factory run, but don't make everything per 1000 each time.

Works for me.

Also, my shop is a Large Generic house that is owned by a friend, it's the shop, the show room and my crafting center.

Decoration isn't like some with 250 decoration items, but it's getting ok. (I don't like the too much style).

Yeah this is a real problem for me as well. I do my best to keep the house number down, But I just put down a house for all the Artisan items I needed to make. I was going the Vendor way myself but didn't know how long you could keep items in the stockroom. I find i am quick to sell off the stuff I don't need but when it comes to good grade copper I horde it like gold. I was going to go WS as well but it seemed like to much composition and upkeep. one stock of resourses vs anothers.I us the bank inventory alot as well. Not too bad of a walk being I'm less then 400m from AnchorHead. but even with all that I still need to play clean up more often then not. It gets really messy when going to build the first run of droids. I find I can keep a handle on things if I stick to one run of droids at a time. I can get a 100 going and then start on the next batch ( Just starting out so 100 is a lot for me right now )

I Wish they would make a stockeeping Vendor/Droid that would only let you store items on it.. it would save having the item in game and free up houses. I have a small spread sheet on what I have in stock and what resourses I need still. it makes it easer when going to fill out an order, and of course I use backpacks for everything.

hehehe, ghosts are useful for things other than harvesters. I rent lots from others. This allows me to use my lots for harvs and a merchant tent or two. I will be watching intently this mystery "lot rebalance" TH spoke of.
