Thread: One Droid Limit The Root Problem

Perhaps I'm just wool gathering here or something, I don't know, but it seems to me that the main thing holding droids back is the one droid at a time limit. If I could pull out two, I could actually repair my droids. IF I could pull out two, probots might have some combat use. If I could pull out two, I could have some use for a power droid. As it is, almost half the droids are nigh unto useless because we can only pull out one at a time. Droids cost a lot more money to get made than getting some CL10 pet...there should be some benefit to them. Being able to pull out two of them instead of one sounds like a good one, combat wise...but perhaps the answer instead would be to make it so only one droid with the new combat module can be pulled out at once, but two in general could...I just wish I could repair my droid, so it wasn't entirely useless...

Or am I missing some game mechanic that allows me to do this, and this is a slap my head I'm stupid moment?

First off, I agree that the one droid thing is bad for DEs. It makes the power droid almost completely useless.

It's not the limiting factor for probots though. The real limiting factor for probots is that there is no way to "heal" their white damage. If it wasn't for this, they would be the ultimate non-CH "pet". They have the highest effectual HAM of anything at level 10. (Medium armor with 40% resists to everything goes a loooooong way) They are also able to have 2 modules in them. This allows you to have a "tank" that not only lets you do most of the damage and takes most of the damage itself, but it allows you to do things like heal wounds in the middle of combat or keep your expensive sliced composite in a scan-free and decay free place. All in all, a really great thing to have for a non-CH and you can have 5 of them. If we could just get a droid "stimpack" we'd be set on the probot front.

And you can't heal the black area eather, I was hopeing with this patch we might get something to repair our droids. Yet we get zippo!

This black bar repair is exactly what I'm referring to when I say the one droid only issue is so much the root of the problem. You can't repair said black bar without another droid...but you can't HAVE another droid out at the same time...so you can't repair your own droids. Also, powering from a power droid is much better than a battery...but you can't have two droids out to power your droid either...even the power droid needs to have another power droid power it...and you can't have two out to do this powering. If we could at least pull out a repair or power droid, even if it did nothing else, while we had another droid out, it would make these droids somewhat better than useless.

I would more than settle for a repair droid that could do nothing but repair, and a power droid that could do nothing but power, that didn't count toward my 'max number' of droids out at one time. Of course there would need to be some good lag in repairing...otherwise you could have the never dying probot...but that seems a trivial issue from the development perspective.

Droids with a repair module get a "Repair Other Droid" command that can repair black bar wounds on other droids. I just can't resist having my droid repair droids I see with black wounds when I'm selling in Coronet.

Well hey...maybe since there's a schem that you can get in combat that needs it, they'll give us droid repair tools...cause it has to do with combat...so they might do something about it...cause they won't do anything about it otherwise...and hey, maybe they will accidently make them work right. That would make it so we can actually repair our droids without having the impossible second droid out. woot...or something.

There is hope in this world.

I have allways thought the limit Bad thing. DEs ans maby even artisans should be able to have more droids out. I suggest a progressive thing. (more boxes up a branch. more droids out)

As to healing droids. For variety I suggest droids remain unhealable in combat. (though be able to be healed in between combat. could use the same timer that's usedon store)It could help differentiate them from creatures. They could instead have good armor and 'HP's. (and of course I would like to see them reackh comparable levels to CH pets.

I agree that the 1 droid limit is something that needs to go. I'd say a basic limit of 2 droids out should be the minimum, with DEs getting an extra droid. Also, raising the basic droid CL to 18 (Wouldn't allow more than 1 combat droid out at a time if they're kept to CL10) would allow people to have out 1 Combat droid, 1 R series Droid, and 1 Humanoid Droid. I honestly Don't see any problem with something like that

They told us months ago when they first started limiting pets to one at a time that it was intended for DE's (and other professions/faction ranks) to get additional pets based on the profession limiting factors. Like DE's could have multiple "utility" (read:non-combat) droids out based on level, and that high ranking faction officers could have multiple troops (since it looks pretty silly having one Stormtrooper trail behind you).

We haven't heard anything about it for months, though - it was something I had hoped was coming with the droid invasion, but I'm afraid it's gotten lost in the hub-bub over droid handlers et al. I've tried to bring it up as much as possible - but most people don't recognize it for the vital issue that it is.
