OK since Publish 6 has gone live, no longer does my luvverly probot upon call scoot away a few feet....it now parks it self on my head....this is reeeally annoying.
People are pointing and laughing as a stand still with a big wobbly metal head.
Anybody else annoyed with this? please sign '/agree bot head' below.
Oh and as a parting thought that is no doubt going to become flamed.
The 'Droid invasion' now looks to be the 'lame invasion' thanks to heavy and frequent posters within this forum.
I for one want to be a crafter AND fight solo.
Now with a decent set of composite and 1 tree in pistoleer i can manage 'average' creatures but struggle against a full lair.
I want to solo...stuff and to do that it looks like i will have to dedicate fully to a combat professsion.
Frankly I don't want to.
In my mind and in ALL science fiction, droids were created to either do manual tasks that were too repetitive/dangerous for humans to do or to give abilities to humans that they naturally do not posess.
Therefore as a droid enginner my natural inclination would be to design and build a droid that could fight, and do it well.
From what i've seen 'Dedicated crafters' who don't want to fight have been the most vocal on these forums and thus forced the devs to back down from their original intention of giving us nice big droids to use.
Fine u lot please sit in your nice houses and craft to your hearts content, the rest of us who don't spend all our time in here, are actually out doing fun stufff like going on hunts, witht the a nice cerebal twist of a stint at crafting to help us unwind.
OK my solution....if u crafters don't want to fight with your big lvl 35 droid...then don't use it.
secondly if you are worried about everyone using big battle droids and going out soloing stuff (game balance), then here's a little idea why not use an existing gripe to 'hobble' their usage.
Droid batteries.
Yup, we go through them like a fat kid goes through candy.
So instead of an overly complex cert system or a frankly illogical DH class.
Why not say all utilities droids use the standard batteries as currently, but any battle droid is so complex it requres an uber quantum flux hyper mega power core battery.
A snip at 2000 rare resources for it's 4 charges that last 25 mins each.
Then let's see how often they get pulled out in a battle.
Those that reeeeallly need help will use the droid, and will be willing to take the cost, but i can't see anybody else using them too often...oh yeh and of course us droid engineers, we'll make a fortune selling the things, as well as the cost for us will not be prohibitive as we do indeed get them at 'cost'
Oh well enjoy the squabbles that this post will bring but please don't forget to sign /agree bot head for the 'my bot luvs me too much' issue

You got that totally wrong. The majority wanted some form of certification, so everyone could own a droid. NO one wanted a cut / paste droid handler / CH rip off and asmall minority wanted a dedictated DE only combat droid. They need to put certs in somehow.

oh yeah and one more thing.
Before you laugh at the battery idea.
Dev's have done the same 'concept' with bikes.
Have you even driven a bike to empty your harvesters...
costs me atleast 1.5k for just a trip round my planet.
Never mind if i spend a few hours online.
(and before you say..yes i know about the 'sploit u can use so u don't have to pay for repair...i just choose not to use it)
And remember often the most complex problem can have a simple solution. And yes I know some of you spent 'hours' working out complex cert schemes just to be told that the complex scheme would be (suprise!) complex to do. But that doesn't mean a 'simple' idea is wrong.

This in it's simple way mimics a 'cert' scheme
If you're just starting you can't afford the upkeep but you can afford it occasionally)
therefore meeting criteria no. 1: Droids for all!
Once you are high level, you start to be able to afford usage even more criteria no 2: Advanced bot usage dependent upon advancement
We'll be able to sell items and make lot's of money! criteria no 3: Droid engineer crafters want goods to sell and make money(the variety will come in the advanced utility droids we'll create if you're thinking about complaining 'we'll just grind out batteries')
Well those are the three criteria i think most MDE's like myself want (barring those bl00dy bug fixes)

Unless you have a MDE friend who will just Give you the High Level Droid and Uber Battries that you cant afford for free, This is what the Devs wanted to avoid.

Huh? that sounds like it would happen to a tiny minority.
Nobody will be willing to bankroll 2k plus of resources per hour to a friend....and if they are well good luck to them.

I agree about the bots, should give us a bit of space. Its cute when R2s and bunnies are hugging our legs. But mot when a Probot,or a spat wants our head up its butt.
I also agree about the combat droids !

The droid on the head problem : correct it would be a good idea.
The combat droid problem :
People here said they didn't wanted Droid Handler.
Dev understood they don't want combat droid.
Problem is not here...

You can't really set the droid to follow ina nice way anymore... it will slide sideways and rotate all the time.
I liked it the way it was, I used to have my BLL following NPC-Droids in Coronet and other cities but now it just looks lame.
