Thread: What do we think Experimentation Counts means?
Harder is fine - as long as we can also make thing BETTER.
Yes, our crafting stations may be maxed out - but then, personally, I have alwaysed used the best materials available.
On the other hand, the droids are so limited in what they can do, they have to be maxed out to make up for their limitiations. And this means more modules and capabilities and bug fixes for droids.
You are absolutely correct. That is why I am hoping they make what is makeable now be the middle of the road, which would be fair.
If they make our top droids the same as what we can get now relatively easily, there will be a bunch of p.o.'d DE's. They need to realize this and increase the value of fully experimented droids over and above what is makeable now.
I think you're right, Ideas, but Sketh is right too.
I, for one, will be willing to accept "lower quality" results on some aspects of Droid Engineering as long as the reason makes sense and is taken as a trade off for some better (potentially unrelated) result on some other aspect.
I would not be upset if a "default" Probot came out with 700 HAM as long as the "ultimate" Probot could be made with 850 and it wasn't too hard to make one with 820. We'd be trading a significantly lower default for a marginally higher top end.
I would not be upset if they lowered the number of modules that the droids in the R series can hold if, in doing so, they put a "default" module into each chassis. (Think back to the way it worked in Beta.) Same for the Surgical (built-in Medical rating based on experimentation, for example) and/or LE Repair Droids.
The kinds of changes that would upset me are ones that penalize players for planning ahead. If the change the resources required to make a Probot, or change the stats used when making a Probot, they will be penalizing anyone who stocked up on resources ahead of time to be ready for the big Droid Invasion. That will piss me off to no end.
There's no need to make things worse overall. It's not too hard to reach 90% on just about any droid, so that couldbe the "normalized" point. Less than 90% would yield a less effective droid, but more than 90% would give us a little bonus.
So yeah, I expect there to be "good" and "bad" from the changes. As long as the balance is good, we'll be happy.
I fully expect that each droid component will be revaluated, their resources diversified, there rarity increased. I expect that there will be conflicting desirable options to experimentation. Like i said in another post, having better HAM may be at the expense of better Damage. I expect that its going to be a LOT more difficult and that there will be a large difference between Master DE's and Master DE's who only use the highest quality resources.
I would hope that all the droids now would be a middle of the line, but i expect them to be the top.
I also think people are expecting all the droids will get better, and Im expecting they'll be really unhappy when that doesnt happen.
I personally don't see any reason why things coming out worse often in these areas should bother me...at least then I'll be able to compete with the pride that I make something that is QUALITY compared to the norm, not just lower priced or somesuch.
