Ok, bit ofa misnomer title, but i got your attention didnt I?

I just wanted to point out that we have been asking for experimentation to mean something for months. That if the devs do implement experimentation, it is VERY likely that resources, and their required property mixes will likely change in existing schematics (ala the DSC). Its a by product to be expected for adding experimentation to droids.

So here's my advice. If you have a stockpile of material to be used for a purpose, use it, because it may have different results next month (for better or for worse).

regular minerals, it should be mentioned. There's no reason to burn off a box of Lidium extrusive under this, as it is Lidium and still impossible to get, let alone high quality ones.

I doubt this would be the case, but it is possible.

The change to Droid Storage Compartments was from one profession to another. Artisans tend to rely on Overall Quality while Droid Engineers rely on both OQ and Conductivity. Thus the change to Droid Storage Compartments makes sense, at least in this regard.

Changing Droids so that experimentation causes a qualitative difference in Droids really should not require any kind of change in the stats that are used. They're still going to be Droids, and they're still going to be made by Droid Engineers, etc, etc. Any fix that they would have to make to give experimentation an effect using some other stats could just be made for the current stats.

I, for one, will be very upset of they do change the stats used by Droids. I have been a Droid Engineer for 7 months and have been patiently stockpiling resources the entire time for the day when I can take advantage of a qualitative difference in Droids. After the Droid Storage Comparment debacle, one would hope that the Devs would be aware of that particular consequenceofmaking changes to schematics.

Personally, I think the change for the DSC's was made because of the vehicle paint kits - if it was just OQ, there would be a lot more 99% paint kits out there.

If my other material requirements get changed, I'll cross that bridge when I get there...

I have enough trouble keeping up with the resources I have to worry about stockpiling... but then I keep grinding other crafting professions to keep active... lol... I'm a glutton I know.

In light of Today's TH posts I would again ask DE's rethink this through.

There is no need to change resource requirements. But that is no guarantee that it wont be changed. To me the DSC changing to OQ/Cond makes sense, because its harder to do. It makes having the best materials important, and I can understand how TH (in a 7 degrees of seperation way) can say that we asked for it. We did. Its called unexpected consequences.

If you want differences between probots, you think that all thats going to matter is High OQ Fiberplast? and whether you have 10 experimentation points?

No, they are going to diversify the resource requirements, and probably create sacrifices.

For instance, armor uses OQ/Mall for durability and OQ/SR for Resistances. You have to choose which you want to make better, and use the appropriate material.

I can see where some day droids will reach the same thing.

Want more HAM, that'll be one combo, want more damage, thats another, want it faster? another combo.

Yep, they'll make us work for that extra two points of HAM.

That's fine, but at least own up to the fact they wanted to make it harder and just say so. Just saying moving it to DE caused it's stats to change is bogus, they did it by hand on purpose to make it harder. Just say so. We can handle it. It's just a ridiculous statement to say they had no other alternative. Half of a droid comes from Electronics components made by artisans. Electronics, droids, pretty similair to me. Why should the special qualities be so different? Especially since the component didn't change functionally at all. It is the samecomponent it always was, does the same stuff it always did, but now it is made differently? I am all for the dev's changing stuff just cuz they can or cuz they have deeper issue reasons to do so, but don't patronize us by saying you had no choice and it isn't that easy. I dunno, I don't even make the stupid things, just killing time at work. =) hehe...

well who knows how they wrote the tables. There argument seems to be that for each crafting class, they have a predefined list of qualities and percentages. So if you use Artisan, then its one table, and may have a OQ 100%, but move it to DE xp gives it another table which doesnt have an OQ 100%. (which i think the probot disproves, but id have to look). It seems strange they would do it that way instead of building the flexibility to use any stat, any %, but then again there seems to be a LOT of stuff thats hardcoded and not dynamic, which explains why it takes a 6 ,months to change something, and why that change has problems everywhere else. Instead of changing a value in a database, they probably have things hardcoded with the same value everywhere, and instead of changing something in one place, they have to change it in dozens, and deal with all the places they forget/dont know to change.

Hmmm, UNLESS after they put experimentation in they start at 700 HAM and we can experiment them up to 820 !! Bah!!! Do I run off those last 50 frames I have and get 820 HAM or wait and see if they actually increase the experimentation over 820 with really good resources ?? Enough to make the last of my hair fall out !

but thats exactly what im saying. Roll your dice, take your chances.

(btw, i can very well imagine 700 base, 830 max.

Squegel, please refer to my post else-thread about the 'they did this by hand' thought...its bogus, stop saying the only logical way to run a database is bogus You seem a great guy, but I don't think you understand relational databases at all here.

I'm hoping we do see some resource changes so we can work on one stat and not another and other ways around, adds to the complexity and the ability to customize...heck, makes it so we are honestly customizing combat droids, whereas otherwise there'd be no real customization at all...'you want a level 1 combat module or a level 6?'....duh....hrm, what a choice I am REALLY looking forward to these changes and things to make it more challenging. I can't waitto feel like I did back when I was a weaponsmith, where I could say 'I've made this, and it is a good product, because I put in the effort to make it one'. Absolutely awesome. I hope you all are as excited as I am.
