For reference this was done with 3 Combat Modules of around 66 each (I can't make better yet). And a HAM of around 1900.
This was also done with Repair Kit B's with 16 charges of ~850 energy.
And I also had a friend tanking the rancors, so it wasn't full force on the LE Repair. Probably about 50/50 damage to friend/LE.
When I consistently healed the LE droid it not only survived, but slowly had a net regen in HAM.
I use this to point out that they can be usefull as tanks, people have just been to afraid to try them out.
Can any MDE's comment on the max they've seen on
Repair Kit B's and C's?
**Speculation Time**
I think around ~1600 energy should be enough for an LE to take on an enraged rancor. So if two people with my not so great Repair Kit B's heal the same LE, it should be able to take on a single enraged rancor. Yes that's a big investment in money and time. But if you're carefull and lucky and manage to only take on 1 at a time (which is just a good idea anyway) and you get around 36k for each lair you take out. You get a net influx of cash which is good.

That's pretty cool.
It's an interesting selling point, but not too many people would believe it without witnessing it first. At least that's what I think.

I managed to make a Droid stim D that was 28use/1381power not using any advanced components.
So I sent my R3 in to fight a Peko Peko. The R3 won and still had 700health left and one use of the D stim healed in back to full health.
Handy if you have no combat skills (like me).

Problem is that, like you said Robot, they're only good for defense (in the sense of not hunting), if you just want to loot/harvest a creature, not gain xp from it or do faction missions for pts only. Every point of damage your droid does is xp that doesn't go your way, unless this has been fixed.

No combat exp from droid kills, unless your doing some damage along with the droid.
Those thugsin Moeniahate me but now they will fear my guardian R3, heh.
