I've had fun with it, and it is very 'Star Warsy' but don't expect to rake in the cash. It also takes a lot of dedication with all of the different parts involved.

Hello community,

I just created an alt. character, and am going back and forth on what profession to take w/ him. I was leaning toward BH, then rifleman, then CH and they all seem to have more cons than pros. I then lean towards a crafting profession like DE that just received the new publish skills, and w/ the lightspeed coming up, they will play an even bigger role...so my question to all of you out there is this - I had a friend who became DE and then had to drop it to grind holos...idiot...anyways, is it worth the time/money/materials to become a DE? Is it enjoyable? I know answers will vary depending on personalities. But could anyone highlight the pros and cons of Master DE's? Thank you!!!

My alt char's a DE as well, and he's been doing so well lately that he's actually starting to become my main. The upside is that with the new droid expansion you can make your main tons of cool droids -- the downside is that it does require a lot of time to make things with a DE and a long time to familiarize yourself with the process of making droids. What I mean here is that you can't just craft an r2 unit, you have to craft the modules and submodules, etc... and it can take a long time to do this is your starting from scratch and an even longer time if not sure what you're doing. Also, if you are looking to be the best DE that you can be, then be prepared to spend a long time looking for really good resources....

So if you are looking to develop your alt character as a character in his or her own right, then maybe DE would be a good choice, but if you are making an alt just to support your main (this was the original purpose of my alt -- just to run my vendors, etc...) then DE might require too much of a time committment.

DE is good because exp tapes aren't massively expensive

... because they're not all that vital. Only a few products benefit from the extra 2 experimentation pts.

DE is a lot of fun, possibly the most fun of all the crafting professions.

However, don't expect to get rich from it. Already many of the people who will buy one of the new droids has one. We don't get much repeat business.
