Thread: New module wanted: Weapon/Armour/Clothing repair

This has been suggested a few times on weaponsmith forum.
It would be great to have a repair droid which could repair weapon, armour or clothing. It should be possible to use this withou any interaction of the droid owner. The droid owner fills it with repair toolkits and then other people can use it fore repairing their items. The owner can set a charge.
The droid should be certified to novice level of ws/as or tailor. This way there is some business for the low level crafters as well.
The droid should use the owners repair bonus (well not sure if the bonus works or not probablt not but assume it does).
But I think the chance to get a droid like this is pretty low. Some new interfaces mightneed to be developed.
Ant alternative is that the droid can be used by anyone grouped with the owner (much like the stim dispenser). This maybe would make it easier to implement than having an interface for inserting item and set a charge. Just use a macrocomamnd to request a repair and then give us the normal repair dialog. Is probably a lto easier to implement with current system

Artisan won't like that, it will lower their customer base.
WS/AS/Tailor will probably not be fond of the idea.
People will be pissed as at the moment everyone is able to repair his own stuff.
But it will bring an interesting market.

1) Will not take away from artisans since you will still need to put in repair tools in the droid to make repairs.
2) I said the droids should be certified to the crafting profession so only a ws can own and operate a weapon repair droid. Most ws I know would love being able to drop an autorepair droid for everyone to use and not having to deal with it yourself.
3) You will still be able to repair your own stuff just like today. It is unknown if there is a bonus to repairs (this was said to go in in first big patch but no evidnece that this is true). We still getmany request for repair since many believe that we have bonus. Think that there is a binus bit it is not working lol.
I think it would be a nice service to offer your clients and a good method to get people coming to your shop (let them know you have a repair droid active which they can use for free).

People will go to an AS/WS and stop buying repair kit.
It will lower customer base of Artisan.
People go see WS/AS because it's usually them that buy the repair bonus CA/AA.
Or, they are like me and know that if they try to repair something it will be transformed in rubish.
I'm not against the idea, but I'm not fond of it either.
