Anyone know. I don't think the way it iscurrentlymakes sense.

Cause people like to choose, I think.

If we made the Merchant droids as a "Protocol only" thing, there'd be a lot of people (wanting to own R-series versions) that would probably upset.

I think it's fine as is...but if the DEs want to make this change, we can work with them on it. I just see it as a nerf without a reason, really...

My rationale is that it is not the droid but the barker module that does the "barking". The droids don't hold intelligent conversation they just play a recorded message, makes sense to me when I think about it like that.

Think of it like the Holo that R2D2 played for Obi Wan from Princess Leia.

Uhhggghhh....don't get me started. This is SOOO on my priority list getting closer to (or after) JTL.

After seeing the ID's holo-emotes, I see this as a totally possible thing to do (though I'm not sure what sort of benefit/reward there is to adding it yet).

Think of it as a recordning of your own voice and the droid plays it back. This is how you get it to say what you want you just say it in spacial.

it be neat if these barker droids would put up a holo of a product and people can even examine it and everything.... just like Qui Gon did with that little holo emitter in his hand to show Watto the space ship he was putting in the bet.

Because protocol droids are bugged and custom kit cannot be used on them.

And that having 10 grey identical droids barking is boring.

Variety is good.

Beside, it does give a use to the BLL.

More importantly, why do the helper R2 droids talk to their owners?
