Thread: Questions about Droids from a Non-Droid Engineer

There are a number of new types of droids that are craftable. That doesn't mean anyone is actually crafting them but that's outside the scope of this post .

I'm interested in a 'Harvesting' droid but I'm not willing to spend the hours it will take to actually find a DE if it won't do what I need.

Does the droid harvest resources in "Addition" to those I can harvest or does it harvest 'Instead' of me? For example: I'm a scout, I kill a Crazed Durni, I harvest 15 Wooly Hide. Does the droid then harvest another 15 Wooly Hide?

Well it's really rather complicated flower but the simple answer would be that the droid harvests 'Instead' of you. Where you might harvest 15 units, a good harvest droid may get 18 units instead. The level of increase though is dependant on 2 primary factors these being your own skill, (it's on something of a bell curve I think, small increase for n00b's and Masters bigger increase in the middle but I haven't done any experimentation personally) and the level of the droid, you want it to be over 100.

Hope that helps honey.

Thanks. That answers my question. Tells me I don't need to scour the Galaxy looking for a DE.

Most Droid engineers build droids like that on order so you might have to find 1.

That's the reason I asked this question. Finding a Droid Engineer is no easy task. The answer told me that is one task I can skip

One thing that they didn't say was that it harvests while you fight. Which in the end allows you to fight and Harvest more. You simply have a Macro going so that the droid Harvests whatever you kill. Then you keep on killing.

If your collecting a meat that sells for 100 cpu and the droid gets 55 instead of your 50, that can add up fast.

You shoudn't have to find a DE, a well stocked droid vendor will have one.

Yes, the problem with DE vendors is that many rarely have droids, unfortunately. But there are some of us that keep a couple million cr worth of standard droid configurations in stock on our vendors. On mine, I keep droids with harvest ratings from17 to 105. You generally want one that has the same harvest rating as your own or better to get a good bonus.

One of my most popular ones is a probot with a trap dispenser, a harvest rating of 35, a level 6 storage and a 109 rated combat mod.

Why the storage? Because it holds the items that the droid harvests and avoids getting it all clumped up in your own inventory. That's kind of neat if you ask me.

The harvest rating is good for people who have hunting3 which seems to be a popular level for the part-time harvester or artisan type.

Throw in the trap dispenser and the ability to pull some agro should you get incapped and this is a pretty useful little droid.
