Thread: Crafting station droids vs solid crafting station

Hi all, I'm a rather new DE and i was playing a bit with the possibilities.

Now I put a droid and weapon crafting module in my MSE droid, so it actually doesn't cost a thing.

When I wanted to buy a good solid crafting station it cost me a lot more (around 10 to 15K I think, was a long time ago)

Now, why would anyone buy a solid crafting staion if you can have a very little compact mouse crafting station?

I believe Thunderheart answered this recently, but don't quote me on it.

A the quality of a private crafting station does NOTHING for you. Crafting at one though gives you access to your advanced schematics AND decreases your chances of critical failure.

A droid crafting module on the other hand has NO effect on your chances of success or failure, but does give you access to your advanced schematics.

I'll see if I can't find the quote though because now I'm second guessing myself

Here we go, I thought was I wasn't imagining it

"Q: What are higher rated crafting stations and tools supposed to do for you, exactly? (Assuming they are even working, of course.) and how do droid crafting stations relate to the standalone stations, since we cannot see any kind of rating numbers on droids?

TH: The effectiveness rating on crafting tools and stations influences the chance of success or failure during the assembly and experimentation stages. As far as the droid itself, it has a neutral relationship (does not effect) on the crafting process."

That would actually be a great Knowledge Base item for the holocron actually...

The real answer is at this point skills factor into crafting a lot more than stations seem to.

And all a good rated station is going to give you versus a crappy one is a lesser chance of getting critical fails.

I know architects who spend their entire in-game lives trying to make the perfect station - when the irony is, anyone that can afford something like that can afford to not care about crit fails.

I gave up worrying about this awhile ago when I got a 41.5, and usually just use my droid anyway - I see absolutely no tangible difference in actual gameplay.

I used a droid only for months, Chef and Doc and I thought I crit failed a lot less than with my 42.xx station. When I saw THs post, I was going to protest it until I read that he'd sat down with Dev and looked at the low level code.

So unless they misunderstood or missed something in the alogirithm... can't dispute their findings, even tho I've haddifferent experience over a period of several months. I've been looking for a station, but getting tired of looking and will prob just go back to using droid.
