What are you guys charging for droids chassis? I know prices vary but I'm just getting to the level where I can sell them and I'd like to know how DEs typically price them.

I sold my first today. A surgical chassis for 5k. Seems like a lot for furniture but fairly cheap for something that is sorta a pain in the a@@ to make.

I sell my chassis for the same price as the non-advanced models of the droids.

Perhaps it seems expensive for furniture, but I bet none of the furniture schematics require an advanced droid brain.

Well, I'm both an architect and a Droid Engineer and I can tell you that while it may seem expensive for furniture...you'd be suprised at what people will pay for furniture. I have an architect shop where I maintained a vendor full of furniture (as anyone who has a vendor can attest dealing with 100 items or so on a vendor is a real pain). I liked having the fully stocked vendor but people were buying everything I had every few days and I had to either make another 100 pieces of furniture or let it sit empty. So one day I got the bright idea that I would raise the price until people started buying at a rate I was comfortable making items at. Yeah...that didn't work. I raised my prices several times until I got to the point where I started feeling bad about charging those prices and I eventually took the vendor down and stopped selling furniture!...so yeah you can easily charge 5k or really...you should be charging even more for a piece of furniture.

wow - i've used chasis as my own "furniture" or "decoration" in my droid shop - never thought of selling them to others to do the same

Thats a good question, I sell a lot of driod chasis, the thing that most people that dont realize is that the chasis is one of the most complicated part of the driod to make.

I get asked why I sell the chassis for the same price as a normal model of the droid. My reply is that it's because the chassis takes pretty much the same amount of components as the normal droid.

I think Ackis is on target with the pricing. It may seem unreasonable to some customers but there really isn't much difference in the materials or work required for us to make a chassis vs. a complete droid.

My price (5k) was way too low but I had one that a customer needed ASAP so I had to come up with something on the fly that would at least cover my resource cost + a little profit.

This also raises an important issue for DEs (IMO) and that is customer education. If you give them a little background on what is involved in the order they're placing they might not wince as much when you tell them the price. I think its safe to say that most people (esp. non-crafters) can't really imagine the work and expense required to get to MDE and the time and materials that go into each droid.

Just tell them what is required to make Advanced Droid Brains, then tell them that R3s need 2 of them that are identical. LOL

I charge

10k for R4 chassis

15k for surgical and LE Repair chassis

30k for 3P0 chassis

20k for R2 chassis

25k for R3 chassis

15k for probot chassis
