Thread: Why not make Droidika's a quest like the RIS armor?

I would like to see players with Droidika's in game but I do not want to see everyone with a Droidika. I think if the Devs were to take this scmematic and incorporate it into a quest that would be very nice. That way we dont see armys of these droids and then they are truly a special item because of all the work that would go into finding, building, and then supplying them.

What do you all think?

I believe it has been suggested before. I certainly like the idea - basically for the master of any of the crafting professions to have quests to gain schematics for the elite items. The master has some items already, but by questing, and getting the parts from various drops, a super-elite combat droid could be made. Just like the RIS armour, make the components really rare drops. That way, it will divert people from looting holocrons to looking killed droidekas

If getting the parts to craft a Droideka were as tough as getting the parts to craft RIS armor then they would be most assuredly a rare sight indeed.

Note that with the RIS armour, to get the schematic is (mainly) non-combat based. The only place combat is involved is when you're running around the various planets to solve the quest.

However, to build the armour, most certainly requires combat to obtain the pieces. For example, the Krayt Pearl and Peko Peko Albatross feathers require combat. So, to make the armour, the combatant has to kill and loot these items, take them to the Armoursmith who has completed the quest, and then promptly crit fails the assembly Personally, I see that as a good combination for the droidekas too (and whatever WS/Architect/Chef/Doc quests). To make a droideka you may need to loot a special brain from a dead one etc, just like Nym did with his.

That doesn't sound too bad. We could always hire big guns for help!

heh, I just read what I wrote. Didn't come out too clearly there did it By combat, I mean the running into random mobs as you're wandering between the POIs trying to solve the quest. From what I've seen on TC, you have to find the NPC that starts the quest too as it is not a static location, so that means probably some dodging agros etc.

mmm....need coffee...

You were understood. Avoiding mobs is is a suitable combat addition to alargely crafting/delivery mission. It'd be cool if you needed a BH to help track down an NPC.

I'm all for a tough missions for droidekas, provided we're not talking probot stats, of course. But I would prefer the mission to be a crafting mission, not a hunt-and-loot mission. We are engineers after all and we build things.

Special "wild" droideka parts to augment "regular" droidekas is fine with me.

If it's totally combat oriented then it is a bad idea. Not everyone is in a PA for combat support.

Thats a good idea Sodan. It helps more with interaction between players in the game when you have different people helping each other out to reach a goal.

Personally I am still hoping for more droid schematics in the game so I have even more droids to offer for sale. But I would rather not have the droidika unless it is very hard to build or needs special componets that are rare. Like I said in my first post if a Droidika is as easy to build as the other droids then they will end up as the flavor of the week and we will see them running all over the place. That I could do without.
