Thread: Why does my droid change color...
*for the millionth time*
Ok.. New R2/R3/R4/R5 units that have not been painted by a Droid Engineer will randomly changed colours every time they are called UNTIL they are customised.
Once customised, the droid will retain the colours for20 calls. After the 21st call, you will receive the messae "Your droid's customisation has completly faded" and it will begin randomly changing each time it is called until painted again.
However, one of the customisation colours is bugged .. the very first white does not stick upon beining stored and so on the next call, the droid will randomly change again.... so when you get your droid painted, tell the DE doing it NOT to pick the very first white from his colour chart.
To Note: ALL droids lose their customisation after 20 calls. However, all other models will revert to default colours when customisation fades and not randomly change like the R-series. For most droids, the default colours arn't too bad. For instance, the Probot's default colour actually looks the best...
everytime i pull him out of my data pad it happens. my best friend is a DE and he doesnt know why it happens either, he has tried to make me an R2 that looked like the one from the movies, but everytime it comes out as somthing different. if anyone can explain to me why this is happening and/or a way to fix it i would be most thankful.
thanks for the info
maybe next time someone has a question about this, you can explain it for the millionth and 1 times.![]()

It WILL stick on the second try.
What I've been doing is coloring the droid and storing it. Pull it out and the trim color is maintained but the frame is shifting again. Paint the frame white, and it sticks.
I haven't tried just painting the trim and storing.
Grimjakk, the very first white block is BUGGED. By using it and getting your customer to store/call constantly until you believe it has stuck is just wasting their 20 calls they have on the droid.
Fact is, the second white block doesn't look any different on the droid. Stop wasting customisation tools and just move round the bugged colour.

Does your droid listen to disco? or maybe he hangs out with a bad crowd and has gone punk on ya...

It is most annoying to not have the color selected during crafting stick and equally bad to have the R units go to a random color scheme when the customization fades.
When you buy an R unit and every 20 calls from your pad after that you will have to get it painted again or live with the random colors.

There's another thing that has to be done, (I BELIEVE -- NOT SURE), after coloring an R-unit: The customer should store the droid from the datapad. I color a lot of droids, (whenever I see them -- for free), and notice that you are correct above, that the 1st color is broken, but I think the droid has to be stored from the datapad, as well, after it is colored.
