Hi.

I just bought an Advanced R2 Droid. Unfortunately when i used the deed the color of the droid turned out to be tan and lime green! Yeck!!

Is there any way i can get the color changed on this without having to buy a new one? If so, can any droid engineer do it? Does he have to be a Master Droid Engineer?

Thanks!

I'd be happy to color that droid for you. But any DE with a customization kit can also do it.

Hmm, next time i took it out i got a message saying, "Your droid's customization has completely faded away".

Now it's red and teal (more acceptable color to me). However, i would like to do my own colors. So how long do these customization jobs last? Not a good sign when the first one wore off after only bringing it out on two different occasions...

Fumbler - the R-series droids randomly choose a new color scheme every time they are called when they have not been customized (or after their customization wears off). So the behavior you are seeing is perfectly normal, or at least normal in the twisted world of the Droid Engineer.

Have the droid customized (aka "painted") and it will hold its new color for 20 uses. Each time you use the droid you'll get a message about its customization having faded. The 20th (or thereabouts) time that you use the droid you'll get a message about its customization having faded completely. At that point you'll need to have it painted again or it will start turning random colors again.

I'm right there with the "Don't bother painting 'em" crowd. It's a stupid waste of resources to produce customization tools.

I made one, count it ONE run of customization tools, good ones with nine charges each. If someone REALLY wants a droid painted, fine.

But you know what? Hardly anyone wants it, particularly when I explain that in 20 store/call cycles it's going back to random status.

I honestly don't know what the reasoning is behind the way customization works, unless it's simply a bug. If it was a kind of 'special occasion' paintjob and the droid then went back to it's default color, then OK. But to be perfectly honest, it's the kind of bug that *never* should have made if off of a developer's desktop, nevermind being checked into version control, run through test center, and then propagated out to live.

yes it can be colored,

but it drive me nuts when i see how silly the design of this nice option is, 20 calls? hello dev? what are you thinking.

imo, it is the biggest waste of resources to craft a tool and customise a droid and then after around 20 calls the color is gone.

question to the dev for droid issues:

how often u got to paint your car when you drove 30 times to McDonalds? guess never. so why why why the color not holds at least 1000 calls? that would be a little bit more valuable. but as much i nboticed nobody ever came back and wanted a color for his/her droid, cause its not weorth it to do for 20 lousy calls.

i would love to see that coloring is permanent or in gods sake when it has to fade then in 1000 calls. color is not fading that quick never!

it is simply a silly idea of the specific developrer that color fades away, easy as that.

how often u paint your real life car? guess only after many years and then only prolly.

i say remove totally the fading thing and let us color them permanent till next recoloring if customer wishes new look
