Of course you could give all droids a 'trust in master' stat (or xp whatever), since they are intelligent beings. If the droid is sold or traded, this stat goes back to zero (mind wipe). The more the droid works with it's master, the more it's trust goes up. If anything bad happens (incaps, etc.) it's trust goes down.

Keeping an independant stat like this must be possible (ref: vehicle degrading condition in reverse)

Then you could only open up the abilities of the droid to those who have worked to gain it's trust. Then everyone can use them, and everyone has something to work on with them to get the best out of them.

slicers can attempt to increase the trust for someone (but if they fail the droid loses trust)

And DE get bonuses to to getting trust because they are the maker (thank the maker!)

Of course we know that the longer a droid goes without a mind wipe the more chance it goes... weird

You have to admit this opens up droid engineer, droid sales AND more gameplay while still in keeping with the movies.

plus of course that allows mind wiping of your droid if it goes too weird.
