Ive been droid engineering for 3 months (from the first week I owned the game) and a master for just over 1.
Ive sold 3 actual droids (for profit no less) and given my mates the best droidsI can make to say thanks for their support while i struggled and pondered.
Ive surfed and lurked all over these forums of numerous other boards to find out what bugs and issues I have Ive not been informed about or have inherited.
And I have one question...
What doI have to look foward to thatwould makekeeping this POTENTIALY great crafting class worth while?
January was suposed to be the month that DE came into its own. I had hoped that thefrustration of produceing a combat droid with 45 (forty five!)ham at the same skill level at which a CH or BEis produceing SummoningMateria, or the disapointmentin my first probe droid, would all be forgiven and I would be entering a time when a DE could contribute to the world of SWG in a more than periphery way.
Well its Febuary now,I can look foward to painting cars and bikes and an upcomeing droid trainer (with suitably tech chair i supose). Is my optimism being punished? or should i grit my teeth, and wait and see?

Opinions vary - I'd start training up another skill tho. Just in case.

At this point in time, it seems that the planned "Droid Invasion" has pretty much been postponed indefinitely because the devs and the DE community couldn't agree on a "happy medium" for the future of this profession. Granted, TH waited until the 11th hour to spring the inevitability of the whole Droid Commander profession on us...and then commented that there is little or no time for any changes (like new utility droids) before Publish 6 goes live. It was also mentioned that if the devs are to completely revamp DE along those lines, they will not be able to get back to us until sometime after the Space Expansion is released.
If the Space Expansion comment holds any truth, then we've effectively slit our own throats as a profession, because the message that SOE has sent us is essentially the following:
"Take what's on the table or get nothing at all."
If we hold fast to the "no combat droids" stance, then we can just hang up our droid tools and pursue other profession choices until the devs get back to us in Quarter 4 of this year.

If you stay DE, you'll get beaten down repeatedly until you have no optimism left.

And not by us either.. the beatdowns come regularly by the Devs in the form of false hopes and broken dreams
