If the devs had told us their ultimatum... things might be different now.

As it stands we are being blamed for the dead end future of our droids. We will not see any improvments. We will not get combat droids or utility droids.

What we will get is the steaming pile of **edit** answer that because we fought their proposed changes we get nothing. Smells like a rat to me.

If the developers and TH had come out and told us in their mighty red letters, 'you either get DH and new droids and a fixed profession or nothing but copius amounts of grief and frustation', we would have (with a majority)chose DH.

But even if we HAD chose Dh, I doubt anything would have got done...

I doubt we would have. I'd rather the whole profession die off before adding in DCs.

I don't agree with this revisionist history"DE's are the root cause of this problem" bullcrap....

TH was told that85%+ of the peoplewould notlike this plan before it was made public and the developers failed to host open, preliminary discussions on this idea months ago in late 2003, back when the result of that discussionwould have made it into this development timeline.

Why are DE's being blamed for shooting down an unpopularplan that was not discussedopenly until the middle of January???

Hind sight is 20/20 folks

Even if we knew that they would screw us over this bad I still would have had issues with what they said. Granted I would love to have a product that people want, but just copping out just to get a product that "might" sell to some people is not why I'm a Droid Engineer.

I want to walk in to Theed or Coranet and get mobbed with requests because I left my MDE tag on. My brother is a Master Architech and if he even goes within 2K of those places he gets hammered with requests.

Like I said if you knew then what you knew now, would you have even picked up the SWG box in the store???

No, but I'm also not about to buy ANY MMO at all for at least a year after its release because of this same <edit> in the only two I've tried, SWG and DAoC. Playing both has caused me more frustration than I think a game really should..and only because I like to set a goal and then achieve it. When the rules keep changing I can't even set myself a target to shoot for. I'd imagine there's quite a study in psychology going on at headquarters like SOEs...to see how best to keep subscribers paying for a service. Of course, don't expect them to pay anything but lip service to the standards of our fathers and/or grandfathers.

Hehe, I'm beginning to get that old FPS itch again...
