Hi all,

As I understood, dev want to improve droids but not at a huge cost in dev, and you want to improve droids but not at a high time cost.

So here is an Idea I had about combat droid :

trick here is to improve them but without impairing combat balance and without making them useless for non DE.

I'm also a musician and I hadthis idea regarding how use of instrument are handled for them, and was thinking maybe we should do the same for combat droid.

Basically, Artisan would have a skill that allow them to use combat droid. As novice level 1 combat droid and at level 4 of the skill level 10 combat droid.

To do this without impairing customer base for droid builder, I would link this skill to the surveying part of artisan tree.

Basically, to be able to sample, you have to have a combat droid you can handle near you. Not a very big cost for artisan, and not a risk in combat balance. (and to make sence in it (even is right now surveying doesn't have one): you need the droid laser to make a hole to get the sample)

Then, In the DE tree, have a droid handling skill somewhere in the tree. But no specific droid handling xp. Keep xp same as now, except that using a combat droid higher than level 10 will give droid engineer xp.

This way, you could raise to master droid engineer either by fighting alot with droids and/or building droids.

I think you have some good ideas. But I have trouble understanding

"Artisan would have a skill that allow them to use combat droid. As novice level 1 combat droid and at level 4 of the skill level 10 combat droid.Artisan would have a skill that allow them to use combat droid. As novice level 1 combat droid and at level 4 of the skill level 10 combat droid."

Everyone can use level 10 combat droids aleady. If you mean adding levels to the base of 10, then maby that might make sence. But I think most people tentd to think novice artisan and surveying kind of young for droid certs.

I have a plan that includes a cert in Master, artisan box. and an easy ramp from engineering 4 to the 'handler' branch of DE.

So, this idea is dumb?

Or badly explained?

Or no one care anymore?

Well, artisan skill part basic idea is :

Not everyone can use lvl 10 droid anymore, they have to spent 27 skill point to be able to use 'level 10'

But those level 10 droids are actually usefull, not something that cannot survive a chuba, something comparable to the firepower you have, let say by reaching unarmed2 or 3in brawler skills.

So, less powerfull than direct combat skill, but usefull enough to worth the skill points.

I don't like the everybody can use the useless droids part of the current idea, because no one will buy them. Making droid required to sample make them usefull, and combat capacity is a bonus, but at a cost.

Everyone should be able tu use utility droids, and there should be more utility droids, but not combat droids. Good utility droid would be repair droid that can repair vehicule, but that would drop the garage money sink so I don't think this will be done.
