Droid Engineer Archive
Thread: Kinda Funny...
This is the list given to us by the Devs. I think it looks padded. They are giving basic information that seriously wasn't needed to explain the 'invasion', or spread out the info a bit thin to cover more space.

Do these guys have more spin than a politically biased talk-radio host, or am I just being cynical?

Droid & Droid Engineer Enhancements
Droid Damage Repair Kits and Droid Wound Repair Kit
Droid Battery consumption rate halved (enabling them to last twice as long)
Droids will no longer be susceptible to poisons, bleeds, /warcry or /intimidate
Combat Droids will have all the fighting functionality of a regular combat-capable creature (CL10)
These options will function like creature pets.
All players will have the ability to own and operate these combat droids.
A combat droid is a droid that is capable of attacking things, in addition to other potential droid capabilities that can be added to droids currently.
The normal crafting process is used, and a combat module is included in the droid.
Combat module will only mount in droids capable of combat. They can be placed in one of the general droid module slots that already exist on the droid chassis', seen during the crafting of the droid.
Combat module is crafted in exactly the same fashion as other droid modules, using a draft schematic, resource ingredients, and previously crafted component ingredients.
Combat modules can be crafted at varying quality levels, which can be seen when the module is examined.
Combat modules stack and if more than one of them is placed in a single droid, they have a cumulative effect.
To have the strongest combat droid, six 100% combat modules must be used in constructing a droid.

Analysing the invasion thing...
- No new droid chassis schematics
- No new weaponary
- No new damage type
- No new droid special combat effect
- No new armors
- No shields effect
The only real "combat" invasionthing is :
- Droids will no longer be susceptible to poisons, bleeds, /warcry or /intimidate
By invasion each profession should get a new utility or combat droid... we are far far away from that, maybein a small moisture farm on a remote planet with 2 suns...
You're forgetting " *Droid armour nerfed " Arnwald.
I'm applying to see if they can add a new title into the politician profession: Spin Doctor. Seems there's a lot of it to go round.
(But on a more serious note, stay tuned over the next week, as I have a feeling something will happen. Oh, and please, no flame wars against the Devs during this time
)

They never stated that this would be the case. (note: I have already let Blair know that he needs to change his announcement to read "combat modules" instead of "combat droids").
- No new weaponary
Again....they never stated that new "droid weaponry" was being added.
- No new damage type
Well...yes and no. The combat modules allow for melee/ranged attacks on droids that (pre-P7) had no such attacks. I think I know what you meant...but the Devs never announced new "specials".
- No new droid special combat effect
Check out the R2's little 'buzzsaw' affect when this goes live. They are there (as needed).
- No new armors
What made you think that "new armors" were coming?
- No shields effect
Uhhh...same deal. No "shield" effect (or anything like it) was ever in the works, man.
The only real "combat" invasionthing is :
- Droids will no longer be susceptible to poisons, bleeds, /warcry or /intimidate
Which does give us something different than creatures. A small difference to be sure but a difference nonetheless.
By invasion each profession should get a new utility or combat droid... we are far far away from that, maybein a small moisture farm on a remote planet with 2 suns...
Each profession should get a new utility or combat droid? That's optomistic in the extreme (and, given all that they have to stay on top of, quite unrealistic, I have to say).
Respectfully,
It isn't that they're spinning - they're just really, really, REALLY lousy at written communications.

Respectfully,
Uhhh...they put up a pretty good sized post on what we would be seeing in Publish 7. I was just pointing out that there were the things mentioned (that I responded to) were never ever talked about as being on the way.

TK i know i had promised to keep positive and so i willstick on the "wait and see" beforejudging the patch 7.
So for the moment i amNOT talking about the content of the patch.
But please stop saying that they dev havenot stated about this and that , because as far as i can remember the past thread on droids, Dev have not stated anything about droidsexcept that the name of patch 7 will be"droid invasions" ( if we "forget" thejustg statement ... ).
Part of what I'm supposed to do (as I see it) is clarify when people have misinterpretations about what actually IS going to happen. That's all I was doing...

Respectfully,
I Can't bow as low as you do. I broke my back looking deep for 6 months for clues about the droid invasion, I have either to stand or to lay prone... I choosed to STAND!

I'd suggest "NPC Droid Invasion" you have a good proposal above for this.
The real naming should be ===> NPC DROID INVASION <===
- No new weaponary
Again....they never stated that new "droid weaponry" was being added.
A ) Where is the invasion?
- No new damage type
Well...yes and no. The combat modules allow for melee/ranged attacks on droids that (pre-P7) had no such attacks. I think I know what you meant...but the Devs never announced new "specials".
Well read A plz
- No new droid special combat effect
Check out the R2's little 'buzzsaw' affect when this goes live. They are there (as needed).
Do you mean the duck taped balster, if so I prefer not to answer...
- No new armors
What made you think that "new armors" were coming?
Hmm a droid invasion..., new droids, new combat modules, new weaponary, shileds effects, special attacks, in fact all wich can create a DROID INVASION
- No shields effect
Uhhh...same deal. No "shield" effect (or anything like it) was ever in the works, man.
Explanation above ^

Wonderfull, so the droid invasion is in fact this small difference???
...wich is good, but not sufficient
By invasion each profession should get a new utility or combat droid... we are far far away from that, maybein a small moisture farm on a remote planet with 2 suns...

Hmm, didn'tI used "should" it doesn't sound like "DOES" or "MUST"
About optimistic in the extreme :I'm PESSIMISTIC in the extreme with this DROID INVASION
Respectfully,
Last word : I did not 1 star rated you on this one... we are her to talk about this communication issue and the poor DE content

TK what i was hoping in response to a thread like thisis something of this kind( my comment are only exemples ... )
Arnwald wrote:

- No new droid chassis schematics
None was plannedasDevprefers adding modules to perform new action , combat or utility ...
- No new weaponary
None was planned as ranged chassis have already weapons and non range combat will have new animation ...
- No new damage type
what is a new damage type ? a different damage type from the existing one in the game or do you mean changing the kind of damage made by existing droids for an already existing damage type ....
- No new droid special combat effect
In general no , but there is going to be newcombat animation for R series as it was stated in TC patch notes ....
- No new armors
Armor for droid is changing we have to see a live scale what is going to be ...
- No shields effect
Not planned yet has existing chassis have no shield in SW, even if continuity is far from being respected ....

As i have said my comments are only exemple of what you could have writen i have tried to make them not so stupid and not only saying not planned , explaining a litle more whithout beeing agressive and you surely can explain more to us as you are now closest than everybody to what Devs have in minds
Sorry...I know that I could have tried to get more info out.

The issue there is that I don't necessarily have a TON of info more than you do. Drashk can likely give me an "Amen" on that one.
I wasn't really trying to be aggressive. I'm sorry if it came off that way.
