So does this mean that the combat rating caps at 186? Which begs the question, what kinda damage is that gonna produce?
I may be able to help out a little with this. I know aluminum can have some decent conductivity (I've got some on TC around 600 or so I think). Also, its not that the socket clusters are capped, its that experimenting on them doesn't change the rating (just like experimenting on regular clusters doesn't change the module ratings).
TK, if you need some better resources I can hook you up with some on TC. For some reason everything I've bought/harvested has been great quality, it pained me to grind with 900 OQ 600 CON steel.

The cluster is really a oddity in the crafting system as it stands now. In no other profession do you have the option of putting 3 "objects" that would normally go into the same type of crafting slot. Armorsmiths use identical segments, weaponsmiths use identical blaster power handler's....but for obvious reasons, we can't be using identical parts in clusters because it would be overly redundant. It used to be the case that experimentation on a cluster affected the modules installed (increasing a storage rating for example). The main issue with this was the bug where a cluster could be put in a regular slot...enabling one to reach the maximum cap with level 1 modules. As it stands now with clusters only available to specific slots, I would not object to adding experimentation on clusters affecting the outcome again. (Possible item TK?)
In most other cases in the crafting system we have sub-components with stats that help determine the final outcome. There seem to be only a couple exceptions: PSG subcomponents, MA parts, several architect sub components (including wall modules)...etc. These really are filler to make some items cost more to build (in my opinion) and a couple things are somewhat logical like having seperate droid motive systems, ore mining units, etc.
Why do we have experimentation points? Really the same reason Architects have experimentation points. So that it counts where it's needed to. Droid Storage compartments, the new combat modules, Droid HAM, are all good examples of where a really good DE who pays attention to resources will be better off than one that doesn't.
OK, I need a clarification here... Each socket cluster can take 3 combat modules, but the modules have to be 3 different serial numbers?

I've got some with 700+ CD, the point is we need 100% Quality * 6 to get maximum abilities on a combat module. A resource that's gated on CD means we can never achieve perfect, nor can we get really close. I don't know how much the quality matters though, if 50% of the maximum quality means we'll get 10% less damage it's not a problem, but if damage, speed, etc, are based on the quality linearly, 50% max quality = 50% max speed, we could be in serious trouble. :/

No, I'm sure they don't. I hadn't done a factory run on modules yet. I wanted to spend a bit of time knockin' out the old fashioned way.

I'm quite sure you can use factory crated parts.The 3 modules don't have to be different serial numbers.

If/when you can, we should hook up. I could definitely use some better stuff...but not for the Combat modules and CCSMs.
