Thread: How to prep for pub7? what to make now?
1. Is it a bad idea to stock up now or Should I wait til the patch goes live?
2. Will existing probot chassis be useable in the new publish?
3. About experimentation, do sub components matter in the final build of a droid?
4. What is the benefit of including an energy distributor to the chassis?
Thanks all, I plan to stay in my guild city during the next few days and off character search, just to avoid the /tells I'm expecting.

Welcome, and all that stuff...
Read the stickies, then read the forum, then pause, think and ask what you still don't understand.
Do you know how many of these post's we get?
Begin with new post, 'Ok I have read the stickies, and researched the threads for Pub 7 and I still would like to know ....x
Having a MDE title does not an MDE make
.
But still...welcome

Excellent post, Law... I would love to get some practical advice from someone who has put a little time in on TC. Let me tell you what I have done, and this is all based on my assumptions (which are only founded in what I have read here). One factory run (1000 units) of each of the following: GP Module, Control Unit, Droid Sensor Package. Two factory runs (1000 each or a total of 2000) droid brians. My plan for the immediate future is to continue to dedicate one factory to droid brains. I may do another run of control units or energy distributers as well. Beyond that, I need some help. All of the aforementioned parts are safe bets because they will work in any chassis. If I could get some more information and decide which chassis I was going to specialize on, I could make the following decisions:
manipulator arm vs. manipulator arm package set
droid motive system vs. advanced droid motive system
...and finally decide if i need to make factory runs of any of the following: advanced droid frame, advanced droid brain, micro sensor suite.
So I guess what I'm looking for is a little advice from the practical side of things. From some of you guys on TC:
What chassis do you see functioningbest as a tank?
What chassis do you see functioning best for offensive assistance?
Am I correct in assuming that if a customer wanted a droid to mainly tank that one combat module would be suficient?
And finally, have you been able to tell if the quality of the subcomponents affects the HAM,Damage Potential orMovement Speedof the final product?
I know that you guys have been working your tails off to provide us all of the information that we have so far, and I sure do appreciate it. If there is anything I can do for any of you please let me know! I do run a small ISP and could possibly have web space available if needed... beyond that, I'm kinda worthless... that's why I'm a DE, right? (sorry, I couldn't resist).

David, yeah... I understnad where you are coming from and I agree with you... DE has been my chosen profession since I created my character on launch day. But, I just have not been able to get excited about it, so I'm looking at DE from a purely profit oriented perspective. I want to make a 1000 of the most popular droids in my factories and make money selling them. I'll go set things on fire with my flamer when I'm ready to have some fun. So with that... *hopefully* TK, JC, Jenden, any of you there? If not, no big deal I will figure it out. Later!

Granted, I'm not on TC and I'm not on the forum a ton, but I have read through almost everything I can find on this subject over the past few weeks. Please understand that for a new DE, going to a post with 9 pages of responses is extremely overwhelming. None of the FAQs I have found are updated for pub 7. Drashk's post is a mess to decipher and TK's links are to either non-pub7 faq's or other posts which are tough to sort though.
There is a lot of confusion, why doesn't someone compile a new post with some questins answered and sticky it to the top? would really help us newbies.

The LE Repair Droid

The Advanced Probot

That really depends. As it stands now, the Probots and the DZ70's both have kept their innate combat abilities, but they just do 1 damage. I guess you could just have 1 in a LE repair.
And finally, have you been able to tell if the quality of the subcomponents affects the HAM,Damage Potential orMovement Speedof the final product?
Pretty darn sure the quality of the sub components still don't matter. However, additional testing by the general population of DE's (after pub 7 goes live) may need to be done before this is verified.

Stock up on the basics, but don't make any droid deeds.
2. Will existing probot chassis be useable in the new publish?
It should be.
3. About experimentation, do sub components matter in the final build of a droid?
I don't think so.
4. What is the benefit of including an energy distributor to the chassis?
Probably nothing.
Thanks JC and Steve, I guess I was just looking for a little confirmation. I am currently stocking up on the sub components and I guess I will just start testing my butt off when this thing goes live, like everyone else. Sure do appreciate the insight.

Thanks for the quick response, but ouch.

Better to just ignore the self-righteous, know-it-all's and ask your questions without apology. As you can see, most people will just provide an answer without browbeating.
