Thread: Getting bored

From the day I installed, I've planned to be a DE. When it came time to choose my elite crafting profession, nearly four months ago, I waffled, considering architect instead, but eventually firmed my resolve and took on novice DE. Now I'm about 3/4 of the way to master, and out of skill points. I'll have to give up even my basic fighting skills to continue. And the game is getting frustrating, what with all the rare resources that DE needs. I'm seriously considering dropping DE and going for some fighting skill instead. Maybe smuggler. I've been experimenting with spice, armor, and pets, and find that I liked doing the few theme parks my Master Artisan character is capable of. I'm kind of a loner. If I join a group its a one-time, unplanned thing. I don't like to make appointments to do an activity.

So.

Is there light at the end of the tunnel? Or have I been barking up the wrong tree all this time? And if I did drop DE in favor of some fighting skill, which one would you reccomend for a non-joiner? Smuggler, BH, Rifleman, orwhat?

Look flower it’s easy to do both (God knows I wouldn’t be a DE today if I couldn’t go out and shoot the odd Ranc now and then )

You can be Master Artisan, Master Droid Engineer and Master Rifleman (probably the best choice if you can only afford one combat career) and you can also have novice medic. That makes you a damn good Artisan; full MDE with all the knobs and whistles, no having to ask wee snotty nosed tykes for GP schematics. Meanwhile (back at the ranch ) you’re a very competent combatant, Master Riflemen are feared throughout the PvP world and nicely buffed, I totally own Rancors

It’s not hard honey, it’s crackin’ good fun. Just remember, rebels only get half as many skill points as Imp’s, little known fact but there you go

With the requirement of master artisan, master DE deny you some of the combat professions, but most of them you can do.

All the elite combat prof you can do and still be a DE, you'll have a few skill points left, usually used for medic, scout or merchant.

But, MDE + hybrid profession is not an option for us.
Even smuggler, it is not possible to do it with MDE.

Pretty much the same for most of the artisan based crafting profession.

All the different named resources is annoying (much more than the stat thing), but if you have a couple of harvester, you can stock most of those, some of them can last very very long.

I think at this point you should have a look at one of the SWG character builder available on the web.
See what's possible, and what you'ld like.

Whatever you do, do it for fun.

I'm a Master Pistoleer/Master Artisan/Master Droid Engineer. Currently dropped Ranged Support and that will give me just enough points to squeeze into Merchant 3-0-0-0. Will have exactly zero skill points remaining when I hit advertising 3 which lets me register on the map.

Still plan to work with my retailer. I'd better, she's my in-game wife. She also owns a krayt-enhanced vibromotor-equipped rollingpin.

Same template here, but with rifle.

Dont worry too much about the named resources. Most of them seem to be in the advanced stim/wound pack components. Stay away from the wound pack ones, only DE's can use them, so that cuts it down by half. As far as the stims go, they are useful but you dont need all of them to produce a nice stim. I recently put enough resources together to get the advanced diagnostic circuit and the "D". Came out with a 31 use 1625 stim which keeps my droids up pretty well.

As far as being alone, DE seems to be the best. You can make your utility scout type droids, if you have scout, combat droids, to group with for better missions and as tanks for lairs, and even crank out a crafting droid or two you can craft up some component for someone in the field. (like another swoop when yours gets ripped up by that Picket protector)

I was getting bored as well, so I dropped Merchant and went and Mastered Rifleman. Great fun, as Master Rifleman can solo anything in the game as long as they can get some distance & a place to set up.

I only Mastered Rifles a few days ago and am already soloing Nightsister Elders (takes about 30 mins to kill one though).

My template is MDE, MA, Master Rifleman ,Marksman 4-0-0-1 and Novice Medic (if you get novice medic, go buy a +25 Bio engineered Injury Treatment shirt-they usually arent that expensive)

Good advantage over alot of people Mastering a Combat professions is that with MA/MDE you can make your own Weapon Powerups &Swoops, and usually have enough money plus a steady income to afford all the luxuries like Brandy, Ahrisa, Great rifles, Full Comp Armor, infinite tank droids, Repair kits and batteriesthat make grinding Rifles alot easier. Make its fairly easy to master a elite combat profession. I mastered it in about a week grinding 3-4 hours per day on Dantooine and never died once.

Hmmmm... I'm MA, DE 4334, Scout 4040, CH 1111, Marksman 4000, and Medic 0001.

Maybe I should drop the CH and scout, and do rifleman instead... I went the CH route because I like the idea of having multiple tanks pounding on the target while I sit back and wait for it to die.... But I can't go any farther with this without surrendering either marksman or medic. I've been told that novice medic is nearly essential, because it enables one to use stimpacks, and if I surrender marksman, then I won't be able to contribute while my pets pound on the target...

CH requires two branches of scout, though, and rifleman only requires one branch of marksman, which I already have filled up... giving up the scout would mean not being able to move as effectively, but vehicles will compensate for that...

I'll give it some thought.

Thanks for the input.

Question about the shirt. Could someone explain what the numbers mean on those things? One person says you have to get +10 of something to see a +1 increase in your abilities. Another says, no, a +1 raises your ability by 1... what's the deal? I have a +15 maskscent shirrt, and I still get detected as often as if I didn't have it.

Well, just thought you all who responded might like to know... I am dropping CH, keeping DE, and taking on Rifleman, as suggested by one of my fellow DE's. We'll see how this goes. I might even try some PvP once I get some rifleman skills built up...
