I have noticed the other artisan professions are getting some nice themepark and dungeon schematics. These schematics can be turned into items potentially worth millions of credits. However, I could be wrong, but I have not seen any superb schematics for droid engineers.

To fill this gap, I think the droideka schematic would be the ideal fit. I am no Prequel fan or Prequel combat droid fan, but I do admit the in-game model for this droid is pretty nice. The schematic would only produce a few droids (like the other special schematics), so they would be kept very rare and VERY valuable.

The droideka could be made unique by allowing the maximum number of combat modules (6 for the max CL13) plus room for general purpose modules. This would place the droid slightly above the R3 in terms of usefulness, and I do not think it would throw any game balance out of whack. The only (weak) argument I envision is that a max CL13 combat droid could also have a level 6 medical module, but wound healing and buffing are not exactly in-combat advantages.

There are other possibilities for better loot as well. Returning to a common cause I like to harp on, there could be a schematic to produce no-decay droid coloring kits. While they would not fetch hundreds of thousands of credits, they would still be very marketable in their own right.

I definately think we need some kind of loot schematic, but I don't think the droideka is it (at least, not right now). Put droidekas in now and they're stuck at CL13. While I don't like combat droids in general (especially not those in the prequel's), I'd like to see them at least live up to some of the hype. I'd say we should get some other droids, such as the RA-7 type droid (black protocol-type droid seen on the death star), or if you really want combat some battle droids (those could easily be cl13). Also schematics for enhanced modules would be nice (slightly better stats than what we've got now).

actually.. that is a great idea... maybe htey should add it in the corellian corvette dungeon....

a droideka should be CL13-15.... if they allow us to add PSG to them then maybe a CL25-30 .. in the movies they were easier then they are in game.. but the shields is what made them difficult

I've been telling everyone that asks about Droidikas that their is a loot schematic for them in the new dungeon that's coming out shortly. *snickers*

If I'm not mistaken, this is the plan for the Blastromech droid...I thought I read that somewhere....

Adding a DL13 droideka now would not exclude the possibility of more powerful ones later. There are already a variety of creatures and droids that look the same but have different stats depending on where they come from. For examples, there are the kwi's on Dathomir and then there arethe enhanced kwi's in the Genosian Lab. There are droidekas on Lok and then there are the enhanced droidekas in the Geo Lab. All you need is an adjective in front of the droid type's name and an optional backstory to explain why it's DL13.

While it would be possible and perhaps desirable to have other special frames, none will have the selling power of the droideka. In my half year as a DE this was by far the most requested frame. Given this high demand and proposed low supply, the market potential for these droids would be incredible. No longer would you have master DE's complaining that they cannot make a living, as the occasional looted droideka sale will more than offset any perceived economic inferiority.

Another note - these special schematics usually appear to have the same base stats. To keep things even, it would make sense to have the combat modules as looted items as well. This would server two purposes. First, it would ensure consistent quality among all special schematic droids. Second, it would provide a mechanism for adding more powerful combat modules later, if SOE ever finds a way to implement DL13+ droids. For example, there are different colored Geo power cubes, so by the same token you could have different colored looted combat modules.

Itis a possiblity for later. Given that SOE has presently capped the combat droid at DL13, it's unlikely shields could be added now, although PSG compatibility would be a nice touch.

A DL13-plus-general-modules droideka is something that could fit into the present game mechanics and balance features immediately.

The problem with giving us theme park schematics for the droideka, however, is that we would really need to get at least 2 sets of schematics; one for the actual droideka and another for the droideka's shield generator module. In addition to a theme park schematic, I think this would be much more viable and fun:

Since many of the droidekas on Theed were left behind after battle, and no one is maintaining them (unlike Nym's), many of them are going to run out of power sooner or later. The devs could make it so that the droidekas around Theed (or on Naboo in general) are in various stages of condition; some of them completely active and deadly, some of them destroyed from previous battles and some just laying dormant because they have run out of power. Here's what I propose:

1. The active droidekas, if destroyed, would yield at least one component which could only be looted by a Master Droid Engineer (and later used in conjuction with other looted parts in a theme park schematic).

2. Previously destroyed droidekas, when found, might sometimes yield a useful component, only lootable by a Master Droid Engineer (and later used in conjunction with other looted parts in a theme park schematic).

3. Dormant droidekas, which would be a rare but occasional find, could be powered up again by a Master Droid Engineer using a power droid. Perhaps an option could be added to the droideka's 'Program' radial which could disable it from being aggressive before powering it up (either that, the droid might need to be "sliced" first either by the MDE or by a smuggler).

The looted components from a destroyed droideka would include several things exclusive and essential for the droideka theme park schematic, such as the shield generator module or droideka motive system, etc. Once a Master Droid Engineer(MDE) gets all the required loot, he/she could craft the droideka in conjunction with existing components (combat cluster modules, armor, etc.) using a theme park schematic. The droideka could have the equivalent damage of CL13, but could take more damage itself due to its shield generator.

Dormant droidekas could be randomly and sparsley scattered, and found with a considerable amount of exploring on Naboo. Non-MDE's who find dormant droidekas could hire a MDE to accompany them and bring the droideka back to life for their own personal use, or; they could direct a MDE to the dormant droideka in return for a finder's fee from the MDE.

If the devs really want to get fancy, they could give dormant droidekas a radial menu option that would allow anyone to 'tag' the droideka as 'found loot', the tag generating a special waypoint in their datapad and preventing anyone else from taking the droid. That way they could trade the waypoint with a MDE for a good price, and that MDE, now owning the waypoint, would also have exclusive access to powering up the droid. Or, the non-MDE could hold onto the waypoint themselves until such time that they could get a MDE to accompany them back to the find.

I think this whole process would be more challenging, and would make having a droideka valuable and rare. It would still maintain a balance with creature handlers (in that not many people would have droidekas), it would generate a lot more travel to Theed, and it would greatly benefit MDE's in that MDE's would be much more sought out.

As a bonus, if the 'found loot' tagging/waypoint system was implemented for droidekas, it could also be utilized for many other rare treasure finds in the game, something of benefit to all professions.

And how cool would it be watching a power droid bring a slumping old droideka back to life!

Just an idea.
