Yeah, so like I said a few days ago I decided to drop DE. I'm posting to let everyone know the transition hit full swing today and I'm also posting in order to tip people off to some good things to do before/while making the change in profession. First things first:
My character was previously a Master Artisan/DE/Merchant as well as a Novice Pistoleer. He had a med tatooine house, a "full set" of heavy collectors, a merchant tent, 5 vendors stocked with combat droids, BH droids, crated components, personal storage and the last being for custom orders and advertizing on the planetary map. He also had a comp helmet, gloves and boots and a PSG Mk3, Sliced DX pistol, self-made 98% CDEF carbine and rifle as well as a crate of 90% muzzles. I also realized that I would be getting a lot more armor soon, and as such I decided to go the route of maxing out my 2ndary stats and relying on buffs for my primary pools (Thanks armorsmith forum). This was the absoulte first step as it would obviously take the longest to complete
The first thing I did was realize I had way too much inventory to simply destory it all or give it all away, so I made the decision to drop Merchant last. Yes, I realize there is a bug that allows operation of vendors without the profession but I am a firm believer in that this is one of the worst exploits in the game and as such would never consider the quick and easy path. (etc etc). Second, I decided that Artisan was easily disposable since the only thing I needed it for was makin components and vehicles. As such, I made a run of 52 control units and droid storage compartments so I could make myself a crate each of vehicle and droid customization kits. I followed this up with 17 crates of 99% muzzle powerups (gonna be using them a lot), armor repair tools and weapon repair tools. I then pulled two of my maxed out combat r3s and a maxed out combat LE off my vendor and promptly trained and customized them with leftover kits. I also made 1 of each of the vehicles (the swoop replacing my 99% effectiveness swoop I made during vehicle publish, thinking effectiveness did anything lol) and colored them as well. I also made a crate of 25 droid batteries.
At this point I dumped Master DE and 1 branch and then Master Artisan and 2 branches and promptly headed to Mos Eisely to get trained up through: Pistol: Tech 1, Scout: Novice,Hunting 1, 2(leftover xp), Marksman: Carbines 3, Rifles 1, Support 4. Wow, was that ever fun. I hadn't power-trained like that since August! Plus I had that Tech 1 box filled for the last 3 months and I finally got my first every ranged damage mitigation. Definitely a nice break from checking the OQ and CD on my coppers, aluminums and Steels.
After aquiring my new skills, I promply dusted off my "Superior+ Rifle" (tagged 98%+ CDEF) and went gorg hunting. Well... no the first thing I did was get slaughtered by a Valarian swoop leader and her tag-team partner Network Lag while trying to get pistol training. Damn Mos Eisely Cantina is a dangerous place to be around. So, I woke up about 100m closer to my destination after I appeared in the cloning facility. This is when the hunting began! I quickly leveled up to Rifles 3 and busted out my tusken rifle to replace the CDEF (still not sure which I prefer atm). I am thoroughly enjoying the Cover ability of the rifle marksman, especially when combined with tumbling bonuses. I am also enjoying my hunting abilities that I dumped so long ago as well as the harvesting ability. I will also be enjoying the scout traps of days past.
With my milestone of Master Marksman in sight, I have the following on my adgenda: Get a better rifle ASAP, submit CSR ticket to see where the hell my slugthrower carbine went (poof, gone!), redeed my two factories asap, sell off my inventory so I can pull up my merchant tent and get rid of a few vendors, get some crated buffs for my primary stats so I can starting streamlining my hunts, figure out a macro to say what resource to gather from my kills (too much meat, not enoug bones & hide) and finally get the rest of my armor with the credits I made from "Publish 7 - Droid Injection".
So, suggestions to anyone faced with leaving DE:
- Do not fear! There is fun to be had elsewhere. We can always come back later.
- Might want to consider making crates of repair/reconstruct tools. lol I sorta forgot
- It's not giving up and you're not losing if you leave. You're winning as long as you're having fun!
