Thread: Droid Armor question
1. Is the max armor 20 or 40%?
2. Do we need one or two lvl 6 armor module sto get the max?
Thanks for your answers
Ellesa - Confussed Master Droid Engineer
The MAX resists from adding armour is currently 20%, although a wee bug will show 40, usually on first readying your droid, this *should* settle at 20 (there is also an exploit ATM whereby you can fix it @ 40 but obviously you'll want to avoid that, 20% more resists on a poor combatunit is hardly worth getting banned for).
To achieve the 20% maximum, a single lvl6 armour module is sufficient or, where more than one 'Defensive Module' Slot is available, 2 level 4 armour modules will also produce the MAX.

Hmm
Well I agree with your answer. 20% and one level 6 is the max. But thats only because we have been told so.
I have noted the 40% 'display bug' is in existance constantly on my evaluation units, from the deed onwards ever after, so as to this exploit : I'm either doing it unknowingly (and how that can be I have no idea- deed to droid doesnt leave much room for choice) or you are talking of an exploit to actually achieve 40%.
Either way, I have never seen 20% when using Lvl6 armour modules.
Confused? I think I am too now.
I always double check stuff when Shian goes hmmm ![]()
Right, let me get this straight, most of this is from observation, although you might want to check out these posts:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=droid_engineer&message.id=74544&highlight=droid+armour+resists#M74544
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=in_live&message.id=7925&highlight=droid+resists+20#M7925
Now then,
20% IS the current max, reachable by 1 lvl 6 or 2 lvl 4 armour modules.
Your Deed or Droid may show 40% resists either temporarily or permanently, this is technically a bug as there is a check in combat which limits droid resists to 20% (can't find the post for this, I know it wasn't on this site) so you might say the bug is in the GUI or the combat programming, like, whatever, 20% sux either way right? ![]()
It is, however, possible to circumvent the ‘combat resist limiter’. If you’re just crafting and Readying your droids, there is NO CHANCE that you’re utilizing the droid resist exploit so don’t worry about it, obviously, if you’re terribly worried you can go and search for the way to do it but seriously, don’t bother, you won’t be and why open yourself to temptation? I have seen a non-DE selling /quote 'pre-publish 7 Probot’s' /unquote with a guide to using the exploit for 100k apiece; cheeky wee so ‘n so *cough* /report *cough* /emote Cass bat's her eyelashes and looking superbly sweet and innocent says 'moi?'.
Is this better? ![]()

And now all is clear.
Thanking you muchly Cass, I was almost pert there for a moment thinking I had been too naughty.
Ahh well eh? *grin*
I am confused a bit to.....I think
I was speaking to a fellow droid engineer today and he stated he has never seen a 40% rating even though he uses armor 6.
I tested it out taday and made an R3. I used 2 armor 4's. But my rating was 0? I only pulled it out once so maybe after I pull it out again it might get bigger....huh but I am a bit confused because even if I used crap quality resources to craft the armor (i didn't by the way) it should still show some type of rating shouldn't it?

Actually, it's not just a display bug. The armor actually has 40% resists after the initial call. To see this for yourself, compare the numbers that float away over your droid's "head" to the combat spam. Sometimes it's easier to correlate the numbers if you look for the last number floating over the droid (assuming the droid wins the fight) and comparing it to the last hit the creature delivered in the combat spam. The actual damage (the floating number) will be 60% of what the combat spam is. At least it was on my probot and R3 equipped with 2 level 4 armor mods.
