Thread: A selling point for good combat droids- If we had them.
If we had good- sturdy combat droids that were even a little bit of a challenge we could sell them as the first line of offense- since they can be neither poisoned or diseased. Send them to target the CMs first and follow up with your heavy gunners- and you have a chance against being mass gassed.
Just a thought but this is EXACTLY the type of thing a droid tactician would be good for. You get a couple of these guys on your team- They got, what?- 2-3 combat droids out a piece. That's a good offensive.
So they have a use- The DE has a sale or six sales- depending. Everyone wins!

There are a couple of good points about them that a fellow forum denizen pointed out to me in another thread:
-cool under pressure: Droids don't run from their opponants in combat like Grauls and other higher level pets can do.
-immune to states: Droids can't be poisoned, intimidated, stunned, dizzied, or any of the rest of those things.
-accuracy: my own testing has shown them to be more accurate in combat than pets (BE or tamed anyway, I've never worked with faction pets)
-easy to heal: a *decent* droid stim will heal all three of your droid's HAM pool to the top immediately. It takes but a moment and in the heat of combat your droid can be back at 100% with a single dose from a stim.
We, as DEs, have to do a better job understanding this new product so we can talk up the advantages and disadvantages to our customers. There is money to be made in cmobat droids if they are sold properly.

Couple of handy things I noticed in PvE (dunno if these apply to conventional pets as well -- never used one):
1. No healing aggro for droids.I can send my R3 to attack a plains hunter, then walk right up to the 6m range, and heal him for however long it takes for the cat to die, without ever taking a point of damage. After about two heals, I pull out a weapon (either CDEF pistol or a short-range EE3 carbine) and start attacking. Still, the cat ignores me. I usually end up with about 345 combat exp for the carbine or 190-ish for the pistol. (capped at the weapon exp max). If I were to drop Master Carbineer and go with Master Pistoller for the short range, this would be a huge advantage, seems to me. Note: Don't try this against TEF-giving NPCs -- you'll be sorry ![]()
2. Healing from vehicle. If you drop your repair kit on a hotkey, you can heal while driving your vehicle. Very handy for those close fights where the droid may-or-may-not make it. Jump on your vehicle and be ready to vamoose in the worst case, but still be able to heal the droid right up to the bitter end.
