Expanding a bit...you can't name a humanoid droid such as the LE, Protocol or the Surgical. They are bugged on the naming deal for some reason and it simply will not work.

Customization on a droid when you first buy it lasts 20 pulls from the datapad. If you buy a droid customization kit, then paint it yourself it will last for 50 pulls. You won't have the range of colors to choose from that master DE would, but you get options for painting your buddy using the kits.

Hey all, I just bought my first combat droid, really just for fun but had some basic questions regarding how to use my new found pal. I apologize in advance if this is on the wrong boards. Anyway here goes:

Can I name my droid, and if so, how do I do it?

I tried to give him/her a command and a little question mark popped up over its head, and it didn't acknowledge the command. What am I doing wrong?

I've read some things about recharging your droid, and repairs. Are these things I can do myself, or do I need the expertise of a DE?

Do customization kits work like vehicle kits? ie do the paintjobs deteriorate after time?

Thanks alot, and again, sorry for the silly questions.

The FAQ does have this info in the "droid owners" guides..

Naming is done by teaching the droid 4 different commands and including the name in the command. i.e. Bob group Bob follow

When you teach a droid a command you first click the "Program Droid" option for the command you want to teach.. then /tellpet or /say the command.. thats all that you have to do to teach it.

Yes, the paint jobs deteriorate over about 20 or so uses.

Recharge is done using batteries generally. Repairs are done with the droid repair kits or the auto-repair module if your droid has one.
