I'm looking for information as to what I should look for in a Harvesting droid. I waas wanting a harvesting droid, with storage and combat modules. But is this even possible? Will it effect the droid's ability to harvest, store, and combat if I have that many modules in them? What is the best possible droid I need to look for before I purchase it? Thanks in advance...

The more harvest modules are put in the droid, the better it is at harvesting. So you want as many as possible harvest modules.
A storage module can be usefull, then it will try to store the resources there first, but you don't really need any combat modules in the droid. Better get it full of harvesting modules.

Harvester and combat module do stack.

Meaning the more modules you have, the better the droid will be for that purpose.

So, if you want an harvester droid to harvest as much as you can, you're looking for an Adv R3 with 6 harvester module in it, and a rating above 95.

Same does apply for combat droid.

If you want a damage dealer, pick a probot with 5 combat module in it and a rating about 500.

If you want a tank, an adv R3 with 1 combat and 5 auto-repair is about the best, but on that, you might do a 4 aut-repair and 1 storage module.
Auto-repair do stackt too.
Aprobot with 5 auto-repair or 4 and storage is good too, but as lower HAM.

You can have 5 droids, so DE tent to sell MSE with 10 item storage in it for quite cheap.

Basically, you can have a droid that does everything, but he will be far from the best in everything.

Having 3 dedicated droids is another option, with more result from your money, but will require more money.

Well, harvesting modules stack so the best possible harvester would be filled with high-quality harvesting modules. Adding item storage to the droid would take away at least one of the slots available for another harvester module. I personally would not combine harvesting and combat modules, but it's not unheard of (combat modules stack too, so it would be a trade off of combat or harvesting).

As far as best possible droid... the Advanced R3 is the only droid currently that can hold 6 modules. So if you want "6 harv" or "5 harv, 1 L6 item storage", this would be your only option.

If 5 modules would suit your needs, you could use an Advanced R2 or and Advanced Probot. The Probot would have an attack command, even without any combat modules, but would not do any damage of note without combat modules added to it.

I thought I read that if you do not have at least one combat mod in the Harvest R3 it will run away from the whimpiest mob and wont harvest. Am I wrong? Is it better to have all six slots for harvesting or 5 harvest and one combat?.

R3 without combat will runaway if he's attacked, or if you're grouped with him and you're attacked.

If you don't group with him you should be ok.

Otherwise, I would rather sugest a probot with 5 harvester module.

Probot are cheaper, and have combat capabilities without the need of the module, but they will only do 1 dmg per hit.

Also, the probot is faster.

My alt is a ranger and I have not had a problem being grouped with my Droid and it running while I am being attack however it has been attacked befor do to the "group TEF" thing on social MOBs, However my understanding is that any pet grouped or not have a chance at getting the Group TEF agroo. So the risk is there ether way. the only thing you can do with an RX droid without Combate is keep shouting or /tellpet(ing) you follow Me command, while basting away at the MOB chasing it. or ether getting a 5 Harvest 1 combate R3 or a 5 Harvest Probot(my recomendation) though if you get the Probot I would still make any MOBs that agroo it my first target.

droids without combat rating and only harvest mods will indeed run away as soon they get a hit.

i suggest to have a combat capable droid for such or u are busy spamming follow commands all the time when u hunt on adv planets

There is an easy way to prevent your Droid from running away instead of Harvesting. A simple macro.

Say you make your command to Harvest, "H."

Name your Macro "Harvest"

/tellpet H;

/macro Harvest;

What will happen is your Droid will keep trying to Harvest whatever you have selected. So if he tries to run away, he immediattly turns around and Harvests what you just killed.

This stops 95% of the running problem. On some very rare occassions, he will take off, but then he will come back.

The only bad thing is that you get a lot of spam across your screen. But it's worth it.

The macro is a good idea, also I tend to use a probot with 5 harvests on dath when I'm running rancor missions. The probot has inherent combat ability so if it is struck by a rancor's area attack it will not run. Where as the R-3 will freak out and bolt. Also the probot can keep up a little easier than the R-3 with a landspeeder. The harvest is lower though, but my hunter is only scout and only 3 at that so it doesn't make too much of a difference and is much better than yelling 'FM' and 'S' every minute or so.

Just keep some stims on hand in the event that your probot takes aggro.

The other option is to lead your prey, I say this purely as a meele combatant. If you post up 60m out, tell your droid to hold there, move 15-20 meters from your droid then pull the first round. When you get a kill in, send the droid and walk another 20 meters with any other aggros you have. The moment the harvest shows just tell it to 'S' and repeat the process. Again though, this sucks on the hills of Dath.
