I'm fed up! 1 out of 3 droids will either have a complete Critical Failure (Thus losing everything) or the final experimentation of the droid will get a 0% (thus giving it a really bad HAM). I did everything to avoid this... EVERYTHING!
I own a Weapon, Droid Crafting Station (Functionality Rating 43.191933)
I own a a Droidsmith's Toolset (Droid Assembly: 5 / Droid Customization : 5 / Droid Experimentation: 3) + Skill tape Droid Complexity:1
I own 4 Weapon, Droid Crafting Tool with a Tool Effectiveness of 13.41
I don't harvest or buy anymore ressources that are not above 900 OQ! All my steels, copper and chemicals are 980 OQ and more! It's my ores, gemstones and gases that are in between 900 to 930 OQ.
Explain to me what else I must do to avoid Critical Errors or bad experimentation! I don't know what else to do. Oh actually I know what else can be done, only buy 1000 OQ Material which is virtually impossible to do.
Why am I complaining? Because when you tell a customer: "Sorry, I have to start again, I had a critical failure", YOU LOSE THAT CUSTOMER FOR LIFE!!!3 customers told me to cancel the order. I even begged one of them that I would do their droid ASAP and he never replied back.
This is not realistic if you apply it to real life. I spent so much money just to be a perfect Master Droid Engineer, and because of critical failures, that perfection is lost. Bla bla bla, "No one is perfect" ... that's bs when it comes to money! In the real world, if you're rich, you can pay for something to be perfect. If I can afford to get the best things, why isn't it giving me the best things?
I'm doing as many critical failures as I was doing when I was just a Novice Artisan and Novice Droid Engineer... why can't a Master Droid Engineer with the best equipment do 1 critical error in 100 droids instead of 1 out of 3 droids? Why?

Looks like the best thing you can do at this point is too get better Crafting Tools. They seem to have more of an effect than the crafting station. Your 13.41 tools might be part of the problem. Look for 14.79 or better....15.00 is possible for a crafting tool. It should be a cheap upgrade.
But in the end, crafting is stilltoo muchof a dice game...for me... the luck of finding the resources you need and the roll of the experimentation dice.

Dear VooDooK,
I agree that you should try to get better crafting tools. However, you will find that some days you will be plagued with critical failures regardless of how good your tools and resources are. Some days I can fly through thirty or more droids without a critical failure, others I can lose a droid every ten minutes. Just out of interest, how do you experiment? Personally, I always experiment 2 bars at a time on whichever line I am working on. I know it can make factory runs longer, but I always seem to get better results that way.
Sometimes, the critical failures are so bad that I stop crafting and wait until the following day. I am a great believer (although I could never prove it) that we are dealt a luck value when we start SWG. That luck value will be with you all day, so no matter how hard you try you will be plagued by those horrible events. Please note that this is only my personal thought, but it seems to make the pill easier to swallow
Kindest regards,
Karlie.

Really the bottom line is: We don't know.
I get around your scenario by not doing custom orders on demand (or at least very rarely). I mass produce my droid chassis including the R3s, craft the most popular configurations, and then put them on my vendor.
I then go to the starport and spam away.

I don't know.. while it does seem that you always get them in clumps, for the most part failures of any kind are rare (andI always use droid crafting stations and tools rated about 8 or so that have decayed to about 5%, so I'm not exactly stacked here), and thats with a completely custom business, so only parts are factory done, I do all the droids, clusters, frames, and a few of the parts by hand. My best advice is to only do 2-3 experimentation points at a time (depending on how many you have).

Leave me your name and come by my shop and I can give you a case of better tools. That would probably help you a lot. I will leave them on my droid vendor at Srianna's Store (-4110, 3411) near theed.

Also you could try buying assembly tapes....I'm at 121 droid assembly now and I havent crit assembly failed on anything(including more than 10 adv r3s) in days

We all get this, we're all mad about it, and there's nothing we can do about it.
My advice is to shift your droid business toward letting your vendor do the work for you. Make your combat droids and experiment, but make a factory run of it, so you don't get ANY critical fails or experimentation failures (yes, it involves building a lot of crated parts first, but it's worth it). You don't need to do this with non-combat droids, since the HAM doesn't matter. But since you must have the best HAM for combat droids, do it with a factory, and you'll have a run of perfect combat droids, and suffer a lot less stress. In the beginning (patch 8) I was a strictly on-order droid salesman, but now it's very rare when I have to do that, since my vendor is chock full of very kind of droid. I can now just sit back and give out my waypoint.
As for getting critical failures doing an on-demand order: if you get a critical failure and someone gets mad, or refuses to talk to you again, or be patient in any way, then those people are rude, worthless customers that you don't need. Let them go (do NOT try to stop them) and hope they NEVER come back. They are stupid, don't know how the game works, and are probably scuzbags in real life. If you do it right, you'll soon be a multi-millionaire, so DON'T sacrifice your principles or your self respect just to get a couple more customers. HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH and act like a Master DE should act.

From the sounds of it, the issue with the parts quality is still having an effect on the final build of a droid. About 6 months ago, I did a pretty large test using LE Droids and ended up with the conclusion that the increased Crit Failures were directly related to the Quality of the parts being used. You can find the test I ran here.
The conclusion was that the better the Mechanism quality of the parts, the higher the Crit Fail rate. I'm not sure if this has been changed since I ran the test, but I would have to say that this might be the cause of the problem. You also have to watch the complexity rating of the parts used, since the complexity rating tends to go up as you get better successes on each part. High Complexity ratings equal lower chance of a Great Success.
Someone also recently mentioned the Malleability of each resource has an effect on the outcome of the success rate. I remember this to be correct as well, even though I never ran any tests on it. You might want to take a look at the Mall of your resources that you are using. Anything under 250 that I ever used seemed to produce bad results.

Hehehe Welcome back Dreshk.
I can tell you that i believe that the quality of the parts effect critical fails but there are some hard core people that just will not believe it unless a Dev posts a confirmation here.
Wheres the guy that always cuts and pastes the same anti-experimentation message? This is a perfect thread for you.

Droid assembly and rating of the crafting station if you use a personal crafting station.
As for the experimentation on sub-compo does/doesn't matter it's simple : if you see a difference between experimented sub-compo and non experimented one, then, experiment, otherwise don't.
Simple really.
And the copy-pasting guy is in fact pro-experimentation.
As for loosing customers, well, I often have customer telling me I am fast even if I do have failure.
Those guys aren't used to do custom order that's all.
Having crate of all the sub-compo and modules does help.

And the million dollar answer is............................. Mallealbility. Over 500 gives you better chances at amazing success, under 500 gives you better chances at crit fails. So.. you have great minerals with crappy Mall expect lots of crit fails while crafting your uber droids. :-) Anyone can argue with my statement all they want, but if you weren't at fan fest and not in the crafting seminar your opinion is just...an opinion. I heard it from the source.
