I have just realized something. And it should be taken into perspective - whether or not you agree with it.
I tried looking at this from instead of a player/DE view that of the developer - and took into account the past 6 months. From that, I have come up with the following train of logic:
Pets/CH went through the roof to make the meatshield combo (8% according toAstromech stats - over 500%-800% higher than almost all other professions).
Cries of "**edit**" and "Pet Wars" showed that they would rather have droids than organic pets.
Most of our players (not DE's) want something that can thump harder and kill things quicker
We will institute an easy and quick fix so that people can have combat droids. If they want them bad enough, they'll give up their skills for it - if not, then they will just continue play as they are.
This is basically looking at the game as a whole, trying to make it more 'Star Warsy' and removing the pet mobs and replace them with droids. Now, us as DE's (a lowly 0.93%) don't want this. However, they are looking at what the community at large will want. Almost all other classes don't care because no matter what happens, they'll be getting a bonus - even if it is just having their R2 unit able to do 100 pts. of damage with a blaster. So they are looking at all the others who will be getting a plus, as opposed to us who, technically, won't be getting that big of a minus. Sure, it won't be what WE want or would do, but people will be ordering more droids from us besides seekers and mobile stations and overall they don't see it causing any real suffering.
I STILL think their lack of listening to us is atrocious (as is my spelling) - especially after numerous "Tell us what you want/think" comments.
